My very favorite is Winter Winds or Summer Breeze, but if you think they might be a little more complicated then you think would be right I guess I'll vote for Summer Flower boxes using a different color.
Grandma's Flower Garden is mostly satin stitch and I think it would be nice to have at least one or two specialty stitches. I didn't look very carefully so I may just be mixing them up, but I hope you get what I mean.
I would be delighted to help, especially if I knew what you meant by counts??
Forgive me for being just a little fragmented this morning. I think I better go and have that cup of coffee that's waiting for me.
I'll take a look at these. I agree with Lucille, and think you should indulge in one of the patterns with 1 or 2 specialty stitches. The ones on these patterns are all not difficult, just a little practice. I think it would be more interesting for most of you. OTOH, I the intro canvas class that the shop offers usually is a From Nancy's Needle Quilt pattern, which like Grandma's Flower Garden is all satin stitch.
Anyhow, sometime today, I'll take a better look at these, and then post some info about color conversions, likely cost for supplies, stitchability.
Also, in general, when offering multiple colorways for a piece, I usually do a bright, a holiday, a neutral - soft, and a fall/earth tones. Would that work?
Yeah - does that mean counts of who is in?
I'll follow-up later, got some job stuff to do right now.
This sounds like it's going to be a fun project. As said by Steve McQueen in (something???) 7, It's nice when a plan comes together.
I'm on my way to drop off some old towels at our local Dogs & Cats Forever shelter, and then off to BedBath&Beyond to buy some new sheets to go with my new quilt.
Well, Verizon is screwing up my newsgroupd again! I hate having to use Google. Oh well..that's the way it is. Lucille, we are having a similar day. I bought a new quilt yesterday, and toiday have baked three dozen cookies for a Cancer Fund-raising Bake & Craft Sale. I donated a dozen or so knitted dishcloths a couple of days back, so my good deeds are done for now. LOL
Too cute, all of you. So, who is going to be the group secretary/organizer? I think you probably need to do a sign-up, and I'll send some questions to whomever - we can do a little e-mail list. Once it's settled I - and I'm sure Donna will help - will pull together several colorways.
Also, I already spoke with my friend who owns LNS/frame shop - and she'll be happy to get all the kit packages of threads together and we can then send them out - for those who will need. She's very reliable (read this timely) with getting orders in.
So, what fun .
Oh, personally, I'd go for Summer Breeze in position 2 ahead of Summer Flower Boxes and Autumn Haze, with Winter Winds in 1.
Yet another *canvas virgin* signing in :o) As I'm in England, I was assuming that I'd have to kit up whatever design is chosen. If there are any special threads that I can't find here, would those who are experienced be willing to advise alternatives ? TIA
Absolutely. I think most of these are just Perle cotton, and an overdyed Perle. You should be able to get Watercolors there, and we could always send you a skein - couldn't be that much postage! You'll have no problem getting stretcher bars and canvas in England.
