Mine loves the orts much better than he loves the stash. I can have whatever I want. He approves more of things I use than of things I collect for the sake of collecting.

A member of my EGA chapter has found a good use for orts: she puts them in clear decorative jars. When each jar is filled, she slaps a piece of ribbon or lace around the neck -- the result is so colorful that people, even non stitchers, love to get them as gifts. Matter of fact, she's currently filling her second large ginger jar which will be made into a lamp.
Clear Christmas tree baubles are good for this too, particularly metallics.

I can see his point! LOL! At least I fondle my stash which is more than I can say for DH's slot cars and trains!

Not mine. :(

Well kick him in the pants! Cheryl
Oh Cool!!! I wouldn't have thought of that! I'm *trying* to go "Victorian" with my Christmas tree, and a clear glass ball with mauve, burgundy and hunter green would be bautiful!! Or, white and gold or..... Thanks Pat P!

Ooh good idea--where do you find those?

Michaels has them!

Last Christmas, one of the candy companies had mini-candies packaged in clear plastic bells and stars to be hung on the tree as little extra gifts. I picked up a bunch of them half-price after Christmas. Oh, the pain, the torture, the agony, having to eat Milky Ways and Snickers to be able to use the ornaments!
Well, a couple of years ago a kind friend in Maryland sent me some baubles which included two or three clear ones - but I imagine you can get them from quite a few places.

Nearly any craft store will have them (Michaels, HobbyLobby, etc). I've also seen them at JoAnns and Hancock Fabrics. Discount stores (Target, Wal*mart, KMart, Meijer) will often have them around Christmas time.

I guess that makes you a real "artist" -- one who sacrifices for one's art!

Sweet! (I could also keep an eye out for them in the after-Christmas sales like Karyn suggested, but that would require PATIENCE...)
