Actually, I read recently that the rule for not starting a sentence with the word "and" has gone the way of dinasaurs and is no longer considered in bad form. Especially in novels or in general discourse. Formal writing, of course, is still just that: formal. Seldom seen these days.

While I agree with your sentiment (who in their right mind wants floppy cucumbers), some people I know do this to remove the bitterness in some cukes. That's their story, anyway.

Courtesy, primarily. It helps when trying to wend one's way through the gibberish. As others have said, there aren't many adolescents here, and few of us indulge in those inane little internet "shortcuts" so popular among the juveniles. Most of us know the rules of grammar and spelling, and use them with a reasonable degree of accuracy, to better clarify our thoughts. The alternative, for you, is to be filtered by those of us who, while we may agree that you have something worthwhile to say, don't care to go through the hassle of trying to understand what you're saying when you can't be bothered with syntax, semantics, and orthography.
