It's so easy to do and it opens a whole new world, plus gives you an option to the square box.

We did learn the flag system - great exercise as you say, Mirjam - but I never had to use it in real life so now I could not remember any of it. And the flag hoists used by the bunting-tossers in the Royal Navy were and still are a complete mystery to a colour-blind chap like me.

I remember having to learn semaphore and morse when I was a little kid in the Girl Guides.

It's an attempt to build a pseudo-pilot for a spinoff they are hoping to create, so are you really surprised?

No, because the writing has steadily gone downhill the entire season and the pseudo-pilot was even more poorly written than usual. I'm really just more offended by the writing skills than anything else and have reached the jumping-off point.

Yeah. At this point I'm only watching to see who's going to get named chief of staff and if Alex ends up getting involved with the pregnant girl he rescued from the ferry disaster, and don't really pay attention to the rest of it. Although I have to say that Kate Walsh is really nice to watch; she is so gorgeous and so classy compared to most of the other people.

I don't think there's going to be a new chief. I think the current is going to decide to not retire.

Well, it's been very clear to me that he doesn't trust the 8th graders who comprise the attending staff as far as he could throw them.

I am lucky - I can receive a station with live dj's, and the format is Big Band, and hits of the fifties, sixties, maybe even some seventies stuff.

I agree that there are nights I've watched qvc, hsn, old Sanford and Son reruns out of desperation - If it weren't for TCM, with no advertising, I'd have to turn to a book. For all the cable offerings, a goodly number stink.

Now here's one to shock - I don't own a vcr, never have, nor whatever has superseded it. I drew the line, so to speak.

Do own a cellphone, but never receive a call on it. Strictly for on the road emergencies and cheap long distance.

Lo-tech Val .... who hasn't picked up that @$#% ndlpt in about two months.

Yeah, but I haven't figured out how to stitch while reading a book.

I do have a VCR and a DVD player, and a lot of pre-recorded stuff that's actually worth watching. When there's nothing good on TV, I can always throw M*A*S*H in the DVD player.

Rightly so.

Dead right, Bruce - for me it`s Radio 4 in the mornings and Classic FM at night! Usually more fun to "make your own pictures" anyway if it`s a play!
