Happy Birthday to Trish in OZ

I'd send it off list, but I lost your address in moving and changing servers.

ROTFLMAO!!! Thank you both for the birthday wishes! DD had her fourteenth yesterday and I'll be 53 tomorrow (bleargh!). We're having a bilateral party on Sunday with a dozen of her friends and a few family members to share a barbie with us at a local nature reserve. It should be good fun, barring storm and tempest. DH has organised a Mississippi Baked Cheesecake for us - yummo!

I can't possibly say it any better then Dawne did, so I'll just add Happy Birthday To You.

Thank you Lucille! I've just gotten up and DS shyly presented me with his knitted gift. It's an eight-inch Hunca Munca (mouse character from 'The Tales of Beatrix Potter') flawlessly knat (DS always knits flawlessly) and gorgeous in a blue dress, white apron and holding a knitted dustpan and brush. I'm still giggling, she's so lovely!

DD gave me a bookmark with a Green Man on it and DH has given me a stupendously wonderful mp3 player so I can listen to my talking books while gardening. He also gave me a waterproof radio so I can sing along with the Opera Station in the shower.

Mum and the Ugly Sister are coming over soon and we're going to have coffee and cake. After that, DH is taking me over to the swamp for a couple of hours (birdwatching) and then tomorrow, friends are taking us to tea at the Minmi Pub in honour of DD's and my birthdays. And *then* there's our barbecue on Sunday. ;-D

Enjoy your mp3 player. I got one for my BD last year, and use it while walking, stitching, sewing. The local library allows free book downloads. Also check out radio podcasts. Here's a recent discovery that I've *so* enjoyed:

Thanks, Sue, I'll look it up! True to Brownian form, nothing goes smoothly. DH had cleverly got out the instruction book for my mp3 player, thinking he'd read it and be prepared for my big day. Sadly, he tucked it 'somewhere out of the way' and cannot find it! So, while I've loaded all my 8gb of music on the machine, I can't figure out how to get the lyrics function or how to play .avi files (both of which the mp3 will do - *if* you know how to invoke the functions). LOL! I'm sure the book will turn up eventually, but poor DH is turning himself into a pretzel looking for it!

I had a lovely day yesterday. There was a continuous stream of visitors, starting with Mum and the Ugly Sister and a perfectly *wicked* chocolate torte at 10am. One by one, my entire extended family turned up to say 'Happy Birthday' and spend some time with me. None of it was planned, but it wound up being just a delightful day of fun and laughter with all the people I love most. Even my DSD made it over for lunch! We never did get out to go birdwatching, but the swamp will still be there for a while yet. In the early evening, DH and I spent a pleasant half hour in our garden, just sitting and planning and sipping coffee. Sigh. What a gorgeous day! ;-D
