Yes, ditto - I think the numerals 2010 just look like they will provide a nice year.

It is not New Year incoming yet. However, Jim has always called it "Amateur Drunk's NIght". I plan to have had a good read of my book and be asleep way before then

I do wish my GOOD friends here a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Unlike Lucille, I am not too sure about "wealthy, or prosperous".

However, may we make the best of what the cards deal us, and may we be happy.

I WILL finish some UFOs. I REALLY SWEAR!!!

Hugs to all my friends here

Here's an odd fact for people who met on this newsgroup and like each other. My DDH, Mel, refused to go to leave our house on New Year's Eve because he called it Amateur Night and didn't enjoy seeing all the drunks.

I am happy to add belated Happy & Healthy New Year wishes to all. It's been a bizarre start for us.

We had to go to NC over Christmas to see the DSIL (the mean one) who is sadly quite ill, but doing very well with it. The other DSIL (the crazy-ish difficult one) was down as well. DH handles it all remarkably, and I got to cook for the crew. They were essentially not mean to me, which is as good as it gets, and I was able to talk with the ill one, discuss future plans, things that must be done, handling having help, etc - she is very, very, much in control of things all the time, so it is on the one hand good and the other difficult for her to accept that she must accept help. However, she'll listen, talk with me as the least emotional & most medically educated person. Go figure. But, we did talk about stitching, which is something that she is doing to help her get through things. Plus, the other DSIL was astounded - because I was allowed to cook in her kitchen. It was good for DH, and the others for everyone to be together - as the long term isn't very long - so to speak (this news was all found out in August). Issues with her

38 year old daughter, who essentially is a professional do nothing, but what can you do, at least for now she is doing lip service, and going to AA. DH is handling it all very well, and trying to get his DBIL to deal realistically, as best he can. Who knows. This week - hmmm- the ongoing bizarreness of possible sequestration hits us - with knowing that we may face one day of no pay every pay period - lovely - which is on top of the no cost of living raises for the past couple of years. Could be worse. Most sad - one of our close friends - about 10 years younger than DH, we've known him - met about the same time I met DH - lost their 6 month old son, to a rare form of brain cancer, on his 6 month birthday. Funeral is tomorrow. All very fast - diagnosed 2 weeks before Christmas. Smart doctor- seriously - noticed that his head position seemed not right, when Connor was in with a cold that wouldn't clear up, etc. Lots happened quickly, and bottom line, after surgery - it was near his brain stem, it just was not all going to clear - but he passed on in his parents arms. There are 2 older brothers, little children. So tomorrow will be quite a day. They've had an amazing support system, and the father did updates in a Caring Bridge journal. Link below is the tag for a balloon release that is going up. Does give us all perspective.

I've been really busy with all this stuff I'm doing for the guild - which keeps me stitching busy, but not actually stitching as much as I wish.Very busy, too much e-mail, and hence I should drop by here to say hi! But have had some health stuff rearing up, etc - it all just takes time, interfering with life - darn it! Sorry for all that - it's been a strange week. Ellice
