How do you "keep up " with new stuff

I haunt the Hoffman's and Norden's new release pages and I get the newsletters from several shops. I don't add much to my wish lists lately, but it a way to waste a few minutes.

I guess for me I read the tread magazine, Needlework Retailer, when I'm hanging in the LNS. And, honestly, I don't worry about it. Sometimes there are blurbs on the TNNA web-site that the public can get to. And the big companies do annoucnements. You can look at Wichelt, etc. Also, Yarn Tree distributes a lot of the "stuff" that goes with needlework. Many shops split up their orders to get free shipping, etc using not just Norden or Hofffman or Yarn Tree, solely.

You could also check out what's up on Tink Boord-Dill's site - she has some designer chat groups, and forums.

Can you post the link for this please? I always mean to bookmark it and don't.

As to the actual question, I try NOT to LOL! I have waaay too much in my stash and too many hobbies as it is. Did I mention I've been fooling around with my digital camera and have come up with some pretty cool baseball pics? I'm especially proud of this one:

I love the Friday afternoon feature at Hoffman's. I eagerly anticipate it all day! (And then I usually have my "fix" of seeing new stuff, then say to DH reassuringly, "Good news...several nice new designs, but none/only one/only two are calling my name!" He's always glad to hear that.)

I also like to browse through the "new" section at

It's updated frequently but intermittently...not on a specific schedule, AFAIK.

What's new to me is old to most people ;-) IOW, the latest and greatest designs aren't important but I do love fiber and fabric sales and receive a bunch of newsletters via email.

I've had a lot of silk ribbon that intimidated the heck out of me! However, after doing an el cheapo Bucilla kit, I dug out Di Van Niekirk's Ribbon Embroidery and Stumpwork book and have had a blast and a half doing the panels. The exchange rate wasn't too bad so I'm eagerly awaiting delivery from South Africa of her "A Perfect World in Ribbon Embroidery and Stumpwork" and fabric preprinted with the designs. When they come, I'll have an excuse to shop for more ribbon or try my hand at dying my own.

-- Kathy sends out regular updates of what's new in her shop.

As we speak, she's at Market, so when she gets home, there's going to be a good long newsletter about the cool new stuff she found.

I listen to what others say, look what's written in groups and of course browse the net, when I see new ads in Embroidery & Cross Stitch.

And of course.... what others post LOL

But of course!!! :) I have been embroidering since I was little and found out about cs in my 20s. It wasn't until I joined this wonderful group that the cs (and other types) world literally opened up to me! So I expect it to continue!!! :):):)

Enable on!

belonged to the group for a few years - it's got some great discussion, and some just like anywhere else. But, I think you'd get some info andcontacts from it. When it first started there was a ton of e-mail traffic -so I had to be sure it automatically went to it's own folder, and bejudicious in reading. Since we moved I haven't been on the group - but I'mplanning to get back to it.
