Whatcha stitching folks

Finished all but the name on the little baby thing, "bless the Baby" . I did it in Willow green from Crescent, charcoal from WDW, overdyes on a nice piece of some PTP, but did the creamy border of pin stitch, and inset in the carrisge in Splendor. Just waiting for the name to fillin. That was my quickie.

In the Resting mode are: Love & Wisdeom from Drawn Thread, and my "Be Kind & True" form Blackbird Designs. I got the names, dates in, and the extra motifs I flipped and moved, but have to finish the last extra - doing a Rhodes heart, and then just down to the bottome - the house, bird and end of border. I'm thinking of picking that back up soon.

Also, getting ready to do some garment sewing - that counts as stitching. The table downstairs is covered with a slew of Vogue patterns. And I just pre-washed some gorgeous linen and cotton cuts -have to go in the dryer. So, I'll likely be ironing later on. Hancock Fabrics is doing a Ch 11, so some of the stores are closing - selling everything - fixtures included. Call me a snob, but, I honestly get little fabric for garments there - spoiled with G-Street, but I do get home dec stuff. And they have Vogue patterns for 70% off - so I bought some I'd been thinking about, 80% off on a lot of other things, plus G-street had a 25% off coupon to go with the

I'm still working on BOAF "Le Printemps" - I officially hit the halfway mark and have almost all of the bottom half done! (I'm waiting to do one shoe and the bee until I need to pull those colors).

I'm happily working on D is for Dog from the Sweetheart Tree and I have Toccata 2 and the Lilies piece waiting in the wings.

I actually just finished my iris panel needlepoint, which was a good thing, as MS would say, but now I have to mount it on a piece of foam core and hang the thing after brushing off the cat hair - a product of Maggie taking a nap on my newly washed and blocked needlepoint.

So I'm in the position of deciding what to do next. I could finish finishing the holly cross stitch picture and that's what I would do if I were sensible. However I'm feeling more inclined to plunge into a crazy quilt project. I stopped into the fabric store to buy some buckram this weekend, and ended up buying a couple of meters of lavender moire which was on sale at 50%. I was thinking of covering some storage boxes with the moire and some silk ribbon embroidery, but am now thinking of doing a couple of pillow covers for my bed. I have these 'European shams' which are sort of an odd size, 25x25", whereas most purchased sham covers are 26x26". As a result, instead of the edges being taut and perky, everything sort of sags. Not good. I'd need to make two of them though.

I had set aside my Marriage of Minds because I was out of WDW Blue Spruce. I ordered it from Nordic Needle because I didn't think I'd have a chance to get to the nearest LNS, and also as an excuse to order other stuff I wanted. Everything BUT the thread came! I moved on to the Sanctuary but now the thread came in and I am finishing up. More pics of both will be on the blog in a few days.

Still plugging away on MLI's The Quiltmaker. Should be done with it by the end of the month. Also still have the Bluebird Santa by Mill Hill in the purse. Not sure what I'll be starting next. Something quick, that's for sure!

Have finished the first side of Mary, the manger and the angel from Carol Emmer's stuffed nativity set and started on Joseph. Have his hair done and face half done. After Joseph comes the 2nd side of each of them.

I just started reading the group, and I love to hear what everyone's working on. I feel much better about all my works in progress. I'm currently working on a Winnie the Pooh and Piglet for my daugher, and a sampler for my parents' anniversary. It's by the Historical Sampler Company, and was published in te British magazine Cross Stitcher. I love how it looks, but there are many, many, many, rosebuds to place. I'm thinking I should have done it on the aida that was suggested instead of switching to linen. However, I'm halfway there (Ikeep telling myself...). Those, of course, are just the projects I have out right. There are five or six others at various stages waiting to be pulled out again. But now I can tell my husband that it's okay. Thanks Cheryl. I'm expecting some new silk ribbon from Nordic Needle which I think will work out with the moire. I'm not sure of the exact association, but Judith Baker Montano has something to do with the brand - the name of which escapes me, sorry.

The problem with making two of them is they have to match - not exactly the same, but at leastwith the same range of color. This may require further fabric purchases, which will be fun, but the cumulative total of the result of having bought a duvet cover on sale is starting to pile up, i.e. bought the duvet, so bought the shams, discovered they were a different size, but couldn't return them, so bought the pillows (on sale), found they didn't fit, and now I'm into recovering the pillows. It's the way it goes, I'm afraid. Dora

Thanks Sharon. I'm just glad to be done. The pictures in the album are of the canvas before washing and blocking, however.
