Inexpensive (aka cheap) gift idea

Help!!!!

One of my stitching groups is having an early holiday luncheon Wednesday. If interested in participating in a gift exchange, we're supposed to bring something stitching related that costs under $10. All the regulars have been stitching for eons and therefore have a lot of stuff; they're also very, very accomplished stitchers and crafters. Other than a gift card, I can't think of anything.

Help!!!!

A book on an obscure technique?

A selection of fancy threads.

Those funky pins to mark counts.

Packages of needles.

A pair of scissors to travel with (under $10 = I don't care if I lose them) on a lanyard.

Any help?

Buy some square quilted potholders. Fold in half and stitch up bottom and side edge to make a glasscase.

Or with quilted fabric, run up some travel cases for makeup for brushes. i.e. make some of the pockets, wide, narrow and in between.

Go to the dollar store, get a cute basket, line it if needed, add folding scissors (always there at my $1 store), pincushion and/or nibbles. Or create an ort jar?

I can contribute one of my hand made by me laying tools if you'd like. They sell them for 25 dollars retail, but you don't have to pay for it. My gift to your grab bag.

I have one of Vic's laying tools - beautiful wood, beautifully turned and quite my favourite.

What a wonderful offer but I'll have to refuse it for 2 reasons: (1) it's much too generous of you and (2) more importantly, it wouldn't get here in time for this Wednesday's get together.

I do have another get together towards the end of the month so if you're serious, let's take it to email: frugalfingers at comcast dot net

Truthfully, anyone who accepts a gift is someone who gives the opportunity for someone else to make an offering. I would not have offered if I didn't mean it.

my email is snipped-for-privacy@austin.rr.comSPAM remove SPAM

Send your address to me and I'll send it out tomorrow and if it's something you yourself like, keep it for you and do something else for the get together.

Adding on to Linda's great ideas, stitcher's magnet - there are so many nice looking ones - that have a top/bottom and sandwhich your fabric, so they can hold your needles, threader on top - make a great place for parking things.

Also, someone once gave me a whetstone specifcally for my embroidery scissors.

Needle tugger, or little stitcher's clamp (like mini-hemostats)

Great hand lotion.

Stither's diary/journal. Stitcher's bookplates, labels for your finished pieces.

Just some more ideas.
