Master craftsman programs

Well, wish me luck - I finally decided to try for the Master Craftsman

in Silk and Metal Embroidery. There were several terms mentioned I

did not recognize, so we'll see how it goes. Luckily I have plenty of

time to get each submission in. It looks to be a good challenge, so

I'm looking forward to this one. I figured I ought to go for it when

I realized I was looking at a class for a chinese dragon in metal

threads and thinking "I can do that, it looks like fun". Good hint,

huh?

I have just gotten to test # 5 (of 6) in the Canvas Embroidery Master

Craftsman program. So far, my only issues have been very minor. I

started it as proof that I could do the work, and, I have to admit,

this one has been fairly easy for me. Just time consuming. I've been

debating if I even want to finish it, but I will. Just to say I did,

I guess.

Well I do wish you luck. I looked up metal embroidery since I am not sure if

I ever heard of it.

Do you have a picture or more info?

Cpngrats on deciding to go for it, Fran. Are you doing it thru EGA? Should

be quite a journey.

Good for you. Keep up all that great work.

Congratulations on your continuing success in Canvas Embroidery and in

your choice for the next mastery. If anyone is interested in the

surface embroidery program, they can view some of the passed results

here:

Admittedly some of the pics are less than ideal and come a bit wrinkled, but you can still see the skill that goes in them. These are wonderful programs through EGA. Really stretch your skills.Best wishes, Fran!

Good for you. I'm still struggling with a border for the master

Craftsman in Counted Thread. I can't let go of the "I want it to be

perfect." But I think I'm nearly past it in my head. I've got to get

to some real progress on this.

And I had my first exposure to real gold thread this weekend. Kimberly

Servello has a lovely Elizabethan purse that is all non-linear

blackwork and gold and she taught it at the Mid-Atlantic Regional

Smart Days in Culpeper, VA. I now have mastered the plaited braid

stitch with Kreinik. But I was attempting to do it with the gold and

ARGH! This is going to a challenge. We started a yahoogroup for

support and soon we may all be moaning there...

I can't choose which is more incredible than the rest. :~) They're all

astounding to me. Particularly when you get to see them up close.

I just did because I live on a farm. The others are outstanding also. I

stitched for 20 years and am a beginner compared to that level of talent. We

don't have anything like here. I knew one person who embroidered but nothing

like that. I would love to meet them. Maybe some talent would wear off. LOL

It's also called Goldwork Embroidery. A multitude of responses come

up when you Google that phrase. If you think of the gold embroideries

seen on the robes of the Pope and Queen Elizabeth - that's goldwork.

Did you see the schwalm embroidery example at the closing banquet in

Pittsburgh? Now that's the type of schwalm I'd like to try! The

pieces offered for classes so far have not impressed me at all - too

heavy for my tastes.
