It's nice to see another new design by Emie Bishop!

I like her use of hardanger in her designs. Has anyone stitched Sunshine and Flowers? It looks challenging but the booklet appears to be very well written with detailed stitch illustrations and instructions.Mavia

Did you absolutely have to post that Mavia ??? I have the prophetically named 'Unfinished Sampler' sitting all done save some of the hardanger at the bottom. Probably only a couple of hours work left in it, what is it with UFOs?

Her designs are always appealing, someone in our Guild is doing one that also stands out and hits one.

I am in the progress of stitching Sunshine and Flowers in the lavender colors as shown on the back of the book. I am at the bottom and need to do a little hardanger and will be finished! Sadly it is turning into a UFO too! Why do we do that? Just to see what a portion of the design looks like in person??? Hehehe...

Anyway, it was not difficult. The most challenging part was the cross stitch with all the green hues. I kept getting lost! I'll take a pic and put it on my Webshots album and post a link.... \ Julie in Hondo

That too is a nice design! I'm sure you'll finish it! When you do I'll have to drop into the Guild to see it! There must be something about hardanger at the bottom of projects that brings us to a stop! I just have to do a portion of the hardanger at the bottom of Victoria Sampler's Gazebo Roses to complete that project. But on second thought I don't really think it's the hardanger that brings us to a halt.....I think we just don't finish projects period before hopping on to the next! :)

Thanks Julie...I'd love to see a picture of it stitched! It's making it's way to the top of my 'to do' pile! I was thinking I'd like to do it on the Water Lily Green fabric as shown on the back cover. I wonder if the greens could be stitched using an overdyed green? Would save a lot of time changing colors.

BTW...where is Hondo?

Lyn, of course, finished hers about two years ago and we started at the same time lol It isn't the hardanger as such, though in that one I did find a couple of the fillers were just not accompanied with good instructions, or I was misreading it, but I simply changed them. Lyn had the same problem (and she has done several hardanger table cloths) and she did the same thing too, just changed the fillers and carried on.

As soon as I finish the current piece of crewel, that's next on the list.

By the way, we meet in the boardroom of the Carrefour School now, up the top of Montebello Drive. We are now a group of 16 - three Acadians and one Quebecer amongst us, we have a lot of laughs. Do swing past and visit with us.

I'm doing Sunshine & Flowers and have changed the colors to peaches. It's been sitting in the basket for almost a year now while I decide on changing one of the hardanger fillers. It WILL get done this year. I had a few problems but it was because I used a piece of cheap fabric someone gave me.

Maybe she uses these fiendish hardanger fillers towards the end to sort out the weak from the strong ?? If it is a test, I know I failed lol

If Lyn had problems then there is probably no hope for the rest of us! Thanks for the invitation! I'd love to visit with the group and see your new digs! Let me know when you've finished the Unfinished Sampler!

Maybe I should tell that to my friend in Houston! :) Any good opportunities for work in the oil related industry there?

Well, Mavia, to tell the truth you really need to have a way to make money on your own in a small town, however, the new Toyota plant is going in South of San Antonio (40 miles). A good portion of the town commutes or owns their own business. We own a small construction company and a finance/mortgage company. But we started that in Houston 20 years ago and just moved our "home" office.

Hey! I'm gonna be in SA March 9-14!!!! How far west is Hondo? Any good nw shops in the area?

My 4 sisters, mom and I are going on what started as a sister trip and then we decided to invite Mom along, too! My oldest sis was born in TX (not sure where) so she and Mom have been there but it will be a first for the rest of us. We're really looking forward to it. What's the weather like in March?

SPEW!!!!! I just checked and there's only a 40 degree difference at the moment (they're 57, we're 15); the difference *could* be 80 degrees if we were having a normal January. This has been the warmest January on record....not once below zero and it's been hovering between 10 and

35 all month!!!! Course, that'll probably mean that Feb. will be colder than Antarctica and March will have blizzards up the wazoo. :) As long as it's not blizzarding March 9th!!
