Organizing for a TW project

Umm, Sue, are you from the Jewish, i.e. Yiddish speaking, part of Jersey??? Bubala - a term I expect to hear from my parents and grandparents, condominium commandos in South Fla, and Jerry Lewis interviews.

Although - we have a family recipe for a fluffy kind of sweet pancake cum souffle _ served pre-seder calle "bubala"

So does it come in a variety of colors or is it something you add to the floss, like blending filament?

Depending which brand you get, it comes in something like 5-8 colors. I have on occasion used 2-3 strands to stitch with hologram alone, but mostly I combine it with floss. Just like BF, you'll want to decide for yourself whether you want to use one strand or two.

Of course! I grew up with all the Yiddish terms, even in my primarily Irish Catholic hometown and with my Norwegian/Greek NYC-bred mama!

You could also look at Fyrewerks from Rainbow Gallery - which is kind of a hologram thread. Several colors, use it on it's own on fabric.

OK - I get it. Having been to the little town that is DH's hometown - his use of Yiddish is definitely NOT from the 'hood (the one Jewish guy in town, the dentist, converted to Catholocism - his son was a classmate of DH). And I don't think he picked it up from the Catholic school, or the convent down the street - so we think that one part of the family converted back in Lithuania. But, you never know. All you Berenites ;^)

I really should show you mine. 9 different colors of BF I think. He glitters most dangerously!

Hi Donna , My DH left the RAF a year last October but his new job kitted him out in slacks , white shirt , pullover and fleece so just another uniform really except for Friday's - In winter it's 'bad taste tie' day , in Summer 'bad taste shirt' I started work full time last July and it's smart business wear during the week and dress down on Friday Jan

Clothes are one of the problems I may have in finding a new job when I'm laid off in April. The library branch where I work now is in a rural area, where denim and T shirts (as long as they're in good condition and the T shirt is "work related") are perfectly appropriate. If I end up finding a job in an office or a bank, they may expect a more formal work attire. That's another reason I may just bypass office type jobs and just go to work in the cabinet factory where DH works. At least when you wear a uniform (like when I used to work as a veterinary technician all those years ago), you don't have to figure out what to wear in the morning! :-)) Liz from Humbug

You are so right about the clothes thing. Having decided to go back to a "real" use your education, etc job I've been scouring the sales. Got enough dress slacks, and a few suits. I think the sewing machine is going to be working hard to do some dress type skirts. Already bought 3 suits - though I will have to alter the jackets soon. And have a couple of nice pants suits. Thankfully, pants suits are really in style and acceptable. I have to buy separates, and that's easier in slacks/jackets it seems - or in the high priced reaches. But, as long as I can keep the hosiery thing donw to a minimum of pantyhose time, and it looks like I'll only need suits for meetings - well, it'll be okay.

I will miss the jeans and jammies times of doing my own thing.

Liz - I have two words - black pants. I wear black pants (Lands End, Just My Size, etc.) and some form of top almost every day of my work life. I vary the look with solid color tops and jackets (from Coldwater Creek outlet mostly.)
