OT: For the hockey people

Ellice, Cheryl and the rest of the hockey folks, check out the back page of the new Smithsonian magazine. Mom goes to hockey camp! Very funny.

Don't you have a subscription??? My copy arrived yesterday.

We generally give our read magazines to the local public library, but it takes about a couple of months to get them there.

LOL - our membership lapsed recently and I hadn't renewed. We keep the Resident membership, as that let's us do things like classes, go to lectures, etc. So, haven't gotten this issue yet. It's on the reminder along with the Washington Consumer's Checkbook - to renew. And Quilter's Newsletter Mag. And our Ken Ctr subscription has to renew in July as well.

Darn it. I'll have to find the article - if there is one.

Just FWIW, I did a bunch of hockey camps about 10 years ago - it was a hoot. Except, I did the camps with a bunch of high school age boys that were taking the camp run by my then travel coach. Started with the 12 year olds, but I got promoted to skate with the big boys. What fun. I still goof on the huge kid that ran me over from behind when coming back into line post a drill - wham - I was face down with him on my back. The next year, that kid was playing juniors in Wyoming or Minnesota or some such place.

There are a lot of women's camps now - full of "grown-ups" . Those are usually run separately from the elite girls camps. And a lot of local hockey programs run summer weekly camps, or an intensive one for the adults, and specifically some for women.

Thanks for the note - will go look.

To minimize the stress of recycling magazines, I read them at the library for things like Discover, Smithsonian, NG.....

The "current" issue is not for circulation, so it is always there. When the next one arrives, it can be checked out.
