OT: GeoBear Status

Hello Everyone, OK -- so it looks like GeoBear isn't going to get to Dawne's (Saskatchewan, Canada) before she must leave for her DBro's funeral. When she returns, I will tell her not to bother trying to do anything with GB but to send him directly to Sheena & Marley. SHEENA, once you receive him, let Marley do what she wants as far as photos, etc. are concerned and then simply send him on to the teacher at Firebird Elementary School in Phoenix, AZ -- Raechel's school. That address is included with the journal but if not, just Google the school and you will find their home page with the address. I am going to be off on holiday so won't be getting to the computer too often. We go to Lizard Land tomorrow and then leave for the yearly birthday trip on 03 May. That's the 4 day cruise out of Long Beach, CA. We will be back home on Friday 07 May and I will have computer access until Sunday afternoon when we will go up to the cabin. I will be back to DD's on Saturday 14 May to send DH back to Magnoliaville. If GB has made it back to Raechel's school by then, I will slough my way through Google Groups and try to post to tell you all how GeoBear fared once he got back. I will then be going back up the mountain on 15 May for an additional two weeks of peach and quiet and working on what *I* want to work on :-). If GB hasn't returned by 14 May, I will have to wait to post until I get back to DD's house on 31 May. Hopefully, he will have arrived by then and I will have great and glorious stories to tell you about his reception back at school. I do have a whole lot of lovely photos from his time with Roberta but it doesn't look like I will have time to get them posted to Webshots. Thanks so much to everyone for hosting and offering to host. I'm sorry GeoBear won't be able to visit anyone here in the States. He seems to be a great companion and causes his hosts to do lots of wonderful things :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I am thinking maybe I should send him express or something, will sort that out when he arrives.

What's the two weeks of peach and quiet ? Is that some southern thing I am not familiar with ???

Don't worry he will get there!

Why bless yer heart, darlin'!! Of course it's something southern -- I am in the Peach State! It's a result of being down here in Magnoliaville for almost 10.5 years!!!!!!!! I've gotten lazy as a Southern Belle and let spell check do the work for MOI -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I was on a trolley in Gatlinburg where the driver was so broad I could barely understand him. When I was putting my money in the pot he noticed my Mackenzie Clan Badge and started chatting to me. Then he started stripping (there were a couple of other people on the trolley) and I thought he was saying he lived in Duluth in the 70s and I said something about those were bad times. By this time he had his shirt right off and I could translate better, he had been a US submariner and stationed in Scotland for four years and loved it so much, he had a clan badge tatted on his chest ! I really wondered what they must have made of him in his years in Scotland !

Have to say though, southern hospitality was it, they treated us like monarchy and I did not get the feeling it was because it paid them to keep tourists happy etc. I would definitely like to go back another year.

I wonder if I knew him?? We were stationed in Holy Loch, by Dunoon, from

1972 until 1975. Kids went to local schools; there was no military base, so we all lived in town, or surrounding areas. It was a fun life, and the kids benefited a lot from the experience. Marcella came back with a far better education; she was 12 and had started Latin, Algebra etc. Mike was in Primary School...but was very canny. He learned he could go to Saturday morning's kiddie hour by the pier, sing "The SOng of the Clyde" and win a bag of candy! It was safe...they would ride their bikes everywhere, just be home in time for meals.

There actually was a Polaris Clan Tartan, approved by the correct Scottish authority. I had a full-length formal kilt made of it.

He did say he was in Dunoon for four years in the 70s (that's when I thought he said Duluth he was soooooo southern) and I did think of you being there but I was bemused about him stripping for no reason I knew, so I was distracted. Not that the stripping was inviting lol
