OT I'm Lonely!!

Two years ago, my mom was asking me what stores 21 y.o. DD shopped in so mom could send a gift card. Mom is one of those people who doesn't like to give cash. But DD said, "Cash is fine...it's the gift certificate to EVERYWHERE."

Well, when you put it that way....

I was sleeping, working and working. Wed night was the night at Harry & david that we had to get all of the orders enterred that were mailed/faxed/emailed in without eating the express charges. I stayed until 2;30 Wednesday night (actually Thursday morning) got to bed at

3:45, woke up at 11:20, went to work from 12: 30 at the library (depressed since the library committee decided to make a pre-emptive strike to close ALL of the libraries in March & "mothball" them until we can open again to be sure the county doesn't step in to sell off any part of them) and then went to work again at Harry & David from 7 to 12, to find out that the seasonal layoffs there start with the coming week's schedule. That was expected, but disappointing because they've been overstaffed this year for the amount of work coming in so none of us is getting as many hours as we did last year. I keep reminding myself that DH & I have each other, a house and a good roof over our heads, which is a lot more than many other people have, but can't help being worried about how we're going to hanlde the last 7 months of a chapter 13 bankruptcy once I get laid off in March. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason. At least I'll have all my Saturdays off so as not to miss any EGA meetings, Saturday stitch ins or hikes! :-) :-( Liz from Humbug

What a nasty cloud to have hanging over you at this time of year. All the best of thoughts and wishes heading your way.

It's true, it's just one has the natural feeling that it looks like one put no effort into finding a gift, when in reality I find grandchildren love gift certs and cash. One granddaugher queued for something like two hours to get into the Gap sale, she had great bargains and really loved the fun of it, she was more than pleased.

I am supplying two grandsons with cash this year, I shall remember that "the gift certificate to everywhere" - good one !

Oh dear - here' s thinking of you and hoping it all works out, even if only because you get the extra stitching time.

And unlike a lot of gift cards - cash never 'expires'.

Lucille,

Careful, someone might quote you on the whining line!

Ha! Some of us "youngsters" were cleaning up preschooler puke. "Mama, I burped in my bed." Oh, is that what you 3-year-olds are calling it now?

So last night was my son's first birthday. I've made sugar cookies (haven't frosted them yet--have to work up to my special delish buttercream), marshmallow snowmen, and magic cookie bars for the neighbors within hollering distance. Have in-laws with health issues we're having to figure out how to deal with, and who will probably be living with us for a couple of months to recuperate from various and sundry procedures. Company's coming tomorrow. Oh, and did I mention I still have to actually make some money?

Gak. It's sad when cleaning up puke is your week's highlight.

Someone pass the cheese, please. What goes with a light whine?

Yeah, that's a racket and it's why I don't like gift cards.

That also is true but with teens I find either way, it does not last past the sales lol

A glass of red lol

I remember puke time well. We all had 'flu, husband away at sea (of course) and the eldest one made it as far as the bathroom then seemed to vomit explosively. It was everywhere. Nothing for it but to clean it up then (middle of the night) knowing dried on in the morning would be even worse, if that was possible lol

I am VERY glad those days are past lol

Sympathies though.

I think something that would probably go very well would be someone to baby-sit and you going out to shop for something you don't need. It could even be a bar of chocolate, but it has to be without a sick kid.

The most expensive cheese you can find is a good foil for misery. At least you feel like you're indulging yourself.

Thanks, it went well. The lunch was good too. We went to the Ranchmans, which one of those old men's clubs that din't use to allow women inside so it is a bit stuffy and requires business dress - I got to wear my funeral suit.

The bra display was interesting. We didn't actually have to pass the bras around. We just held them up and talked about them. The new person bought a bigger bra than she needed because she said she was hopeful. My boss brought in several skimpy lingerie sets which were bright, 'all the colors of Alberta' . Mostly it was about having fun as an organization and focussing on covering all the important areas while maintaining openness. Another pointed out the lace and color of the bra were 'glamorous'... One person was wearing hers. She talked about it being 'classic' and about the high level of service she received when buying it. I also wore one of mine, but I told them I wasn't going to talk about that one because it is supposed to reduce projections by up to 1 1/2 inches, and that wouldn't be good news coming from their revenue person. So then I yapped a bit about support and how small things (like strap design) can affect the wear and tear on the organization (my shoulders). So I survived. Dora

Caryn,

It was just a teeny whine..............a little puke as it were!! I feel better now, and the arm doesn't hurt. I even bought a couple of wee presents so the little ones can have something to open, as well as the money!! Am I a nicer Granny now?? LOL

I like that phrase too!! I shall be in Maryland in march, and I will try to find somewhere.place that the kids want to go to, and give them a treat then. Of course, the 10and 12 years girls will not want what the

16yr old alpha male wants!!
