OT: Junior Hockey

Did anyone else see the Canada vs Russia hockey game last night? What an amazing, edge-of-your-seat game. I felt sorry for the Russians, they played a superb game, and while I'm glad Canada won, in some ways it was a shame that it had to be decided by one-on-one shots.

Now, tomorrow night we play the Swedes. You know where I'll be at 7 p.m.

Just wish the professionals could play with such good sportsmanship.

Yes, I watched it. And the previous game of Canada versus the USA. I agree with your assessment of the Russia game. We have won four gold medals in a row, so I would not be disappointed if the Swedes won tomorrow. But I will certainly cheer if the Canadians win. And if we do win, when they play O Canada, watch out for the team singing the most enthusiastic, out of tune, raucus version it is possible to imagine. Jim

Wish I could have watched, caught the highlight reel instead on Sunday. It was worth watching.

I know what we'll be watching tonight. We'll be rooting for the Canadians.

It was a great game. Hey, at least most of the professionals I know do still have sportsmanship in hockey. They give a lot of crap, and don't respect the guys who are a-holes, unsportsmanlike. On that topic - did you see the article that the horrible Claude Lemieux has resigned for a comeback. I cannot tell you how many guys I've heard talk about what a disgrace he is/was. Some of those guys still playing, some talking heads on Versus now. We were really sad to see that article.

The fans - that's another story. And hockey is still the only sport where they actually do shake hands at the end of series.

Nothing funnier than the little kids handshake line.

I hadn't heard that Claude Lemieux was in Worcester.... Good place for him. Hope he stays there. C

Just came upstairs from watching the Canada/Sweden game. We won!!!!! Great game, although I thought the Canadians took some dumb penalties, and only some excellent penalty killing kept them in the game. That's five gold medals in a row.

As one sports announcer said at the end of the game, "I didn't know Wooo was part of Oh, Canada" :)

If you will read my post of a few days ago, I did "forecast" that the "singing" of Oh Canada by our team would be somewhat raucus. Anyhow, we won!!!! Jim.

I want one of those hats! they were so neat.

The game was well played, but maybe that second empty net goal was over the top.

More than anything, I wanted to smack the announcer with the cheesy comment about the Swede with the baby mustache.

It was amusing last night, DD and I went from the Rangers game (they won), to Top Gear and then Juniors game. A break in the action meant you went to the next station to see the score or where in Japan the Top Gear boys had progressed to (she thinks Richard Hammond is very cute).
