Ot Monday

Monday starts another day of this fight. Most world leaders and people who understand what is really going on , understand that this is our standing , against the Terrorist Movements to start an all over world fight. My friends , closest to the border who are closed in shelters since Wensday night had no access to geting food. Over 1200 falls over 500 wounded ,, and also on the other side there is lots of destruction . Down with terrorists. mirjam

Very OT indeed. It's all relative and dependent upon the period and the area in which you are living - sixty years ago the Stern Gang and the Irgun (Irgun Zvia Leumi) thought they were doing the right thing.

Yes Bruce maybe for you our situation here is OT , but for many people here it is probably important enough to email me and my country , encouraging words and prayers and i THANK all of them . You try to compare the unlawful actions of a branch of world terror acts to another group in other times, showing you lack of knowledge both in History as well as international laws.

May i point out to you that even Arab countries condemm the actions of the Hizbulla , And that United Nations demanded it` s dismanteling and it`s removal from the International recognized border between Israel and Lebanon in 2001 . mirjam

I would not wish the situation in Israel and Lebanon on anyone, but you should realize that Pat Porter and I lived through the blitz of 1940. I did not have it too tough; we lived outside Birmingham, but my wife lived in London. For several weeks, she and her parents had a normal evening; homework for her as she was in school. But at bed-time, she and her mother went to the local "tube" station, where there was a bridge, and spent the night sleeping there; they had no bomb shelter. Meanwhile, her father went on duty as an air-raid warden. The next morning, they got together for breakfast, and another normal day.

GOOD MORNING all , from a good night in the shelter. I am not really sure James , waht you are trying to tell me here. i Don`t think i complained about these `unusual time ` in our lives. I just tell people, [ many of whom ask me privately about the situation]. Believe me i know more than many here about the Blitz time, and if i take the many wars i went through here , i am probably quite able to evaluate and understand what many of you went through. In those times, which as you know where Far worse for many of our families. And yes i realize there are people who are far worse than i am , or many of us are. It's good to hear from you and to know that you are fine and coping so well. I was in Israel during the problem with Lebanon in 1982 and I was amazed at how calm the people were. Unfortunately the reason for their calm demeanor is that they have just gotten hardened to the situation and they are just too accustomed to strife to overreact.

And remembering the London Blitz, I was hoping that Mirjam was one of the thousands that they are telling us have left Haifa for safer areas! I`m no armaments expert, but I think that the missiles today are more accurate and powerful than what we went through. Either way - fun it isn`t! We`re seeing far too much of Haifa on the news at present - it looks a lovely city, and it`s such a shame if it gets badly damaged.

My cousin was evacuated to Birmingham, Jim - we always thought it a bit odd, as we`d have expected Birmingham to have been a fairly obvious target. I mean, look what happened to Coventry!

Thank You Pat ,,, No i am not evacuating, no reason to do so ,,, and anyway the range of the various missiles and rockets might be over half Israel ... Being in my house shows the terrorists what i think of them . After all we have been living for years with terror in buses and resturants and we do use them all . Thank you also for reminding James , that this `modern` rockets are an other League of rockets compared to the V1 , and V2 you suffered from. But not comparing , all situations like this are a burden on normal life. Just watched the news and saw the evacuation of the British people from Beirut. My late mother used to Live in Nahariya [ also a name that appears a lot in the news , this afternoon a person was killed there from a direct hit.] She lived quietly through RAINS of Katjushas, and we visited her during this time as usual , I don`t where you got the number Thousnads ,???? people are inside but all my friends and neighbours are at home in their Haifa home ,,, Our son lives in this city and our daughter in another.

I hope you can see why we love this city so much ....
