OT: NYC Trip - again

Hi Guys, Me again and I'm not a happy camper! DH has asked me to post and ask if any of you know whether or not the cabs in NYC take credit cards. Apparently, no one has bothered to think about how we are to get to/from the airport & The City. These a**h^#es haven't bothered to think about this until I asked DH about it!!!! WELL-DUH, did they think they were gonna be transported directly between the airport & the hotel? The company has one of the travel agencies do all of the flight, hotel and rental car stuff but they won't be renting a car on this trip. VBS, I guess it's a good thing I started asking DH about how I was to meet up with him in order to get to the airport, ect. I've been looking through the Gray Line site and they offer round trip shuttle between Manhattan & La Guardia for $36.00/person. THAT sounds like a bargain to MOI and I told DH. He still wants me to ask if any of you know if the cabbies can take credit cards so we know whether or not to have beau coup greenbacks on hand to pay for the ride IF we take a cab. Personally, I'm thinking about just reserving MOI a seat on the shuttle and letting those twits fend for themselves. I won't be surprised if DH phones here and asks ME to make reservations for all of us on the Gray Line Shuttle. THAT ain't gonna happen. He can make the reservations since it is THEIR business trip and I am just along for the ride and to "pretty" things up a bit -- LOLOL. Thanks bunches & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

The Gray Line Shuttle is fine but you might also get in touch with the Marriot and ask them if they run a shuttle from the airport. If they do, it's usually a smaller van and more comfortable than the big bus.

Most of the big hotels do have the shuttle buses.

Check to see if the hotel has shuttle service to the hotel!

Taxis are starting to take credit cards but I don't think they all do yet. There's a flat rate from JFK to Manhattan. From

What are the fares concerning trips to and from Newark, JFK, andLaGuardia International airports? Newark International Airport

- The set fare from New York City to Newark International Airport is the regular metered rate of fare, plus a $15.00 surcharge, plus all tolls going to and returning from the airport.

John F. Kennedy International Airport

- The TLC has established a "Flat Fare" program for trips to and from JFK and Manhattan. The flat fare is $45.00 plus any tolls. There is no set fare to or from JFK to any point in New York City outside of Manhattan, and the metered rate applies.

LaGuardia International Airport

- There is no set fare for trips to and from LaGuardia International Airport. The regular metered rate of fare, as is displayed below, applies in all cases.

*** I suggest having a lot of single dollar bills for tips. NYC is built on tips.

Thanks for the info Allison. DH called me again and told me that he assumed we would probably take 2 taxis to/from The City and he would pay. DH wanted to know about credit cards on the chance that if business was finished early and the other guys wanted to go home early, he might decide to stay and do something with me! WHY in the world don't engineers TELL you what they are thinking?!?!? You'd think I would be used to it after 35 years -- LOLOLOL. As for tipping, I was prepared for that :-). I have a good friend here in Magnoliaville who is from the area and she has already told me to bring lots and lots of singles :-). Thanks again & CiaoMeow >^;;^<
