Hi again!

I just got an email from Dave (thanks Dave) and it made me realise that when DH put my new computer together for me he didn't put RCS back into my newsgroups... I thought the list was a little short but I couldn't figure out what was 'missing'! So I hunted and put it back myself just a few minutes ago, and now I've got three weeks worth of posts to read!

The new computer was a bit of a saga - we bought it and it seemed fine but when DH was installing stuff he installed some of the software that 'came with' the computer and it was spyware! Less than a week later we had to reformat it because I was being inundated with popups that wouldn't go away... NEVER put weatherbug on your pc however 'neat' an idea it sounds! Anyway, all is fine now and the biggest casualty was that I lost a week's worth of digital photos of the new kitten and an absolutely GORGEOUS photo session with Scouty because they hadn't been backed up or even uploaded to webshots yet (waaaaah!) Fortunately the best photo of all still survives because DH had made it his background :)

sorry to hear about your lost pics and computer woes! I have Weatherbug on my computer, and I like it and use it frequently, espeically in the winter, and starting this time of year for thunderstorms and tornadoes it does come in handy! I have gotten some pop ups, but my google popupblocker gets most of those! I have heard of another program for weather alerts that doesnt have all the popups and advertising, but I cant remember the name of it! darn it!

I have weatherbug and use it daily. I use a pop-up blocker that works great as well as a spyware program. With the daycare I really need to know what is going on weatherwise and the children have learned to let me know if they hear the chirp. Too bad you had trouble with it. Sandy

I've never had a popup problem like that before and the only thing we did 'different' was putting weatherbug onto the machine... the popups put themselves into the registry and kept coming and coming and we couldn't make them go away for love or money! DH is a computer technician and even HE couldn't fix it without reformatting the whole machine!

If I want to see the weather now I either turn on the tv to the weather channel and look at the bottom of the screen, or I go to Weather.com where I bookmarked the local forecast for my area.

I have a thing called FreeWeather.com is that the one you guys are talking about? I've had very good luck with it. Just weather pop ups that are annoying now and then. Like when it's windy it will pop up and warn about the "severe wind" often.

There you are! Gotta love all the "free" software you get with a computer. MIL bought a 3-in-1 printer last year, and it came with 3 software packages, and more than likely she hasn't used them. But I'm glad you're back with us!

Welcome back Karen. Aren't computers fun? I installed Norton Antivirus a couple of weeks ago and ever since my computer has been super slow. It is so frustrating.
