I'm Back, Again!

Howdy, people!

I'm back and I'll probably be hunting for lampwork again, RSN.

Life sucks, mainly, but it only took the SSA nine months to approve my disability claim which, I understand, must be some kind of record. Anyhoo, this means that now I can concentrate on getting better rather than spend all my time trying to figure out how to pay the rent, keep the lights on, *and* buy groceries -- all at the same time. I'll even have some $$ left over for the important stuff, like beads.

Meanwhile, I've moved my websites and blogs to a webhost-for-pay site which will allow me to do some more interesting things without worrying about whether or not I'm going to be locked out of my friend's server at any given time. NearlyFreeSpeech.NET is wild, wooly and very cheap -- and permits just about anything, including server-side scripts. (Geek Talk) I even have my own domain name. :-D

Thanks! I haven't done anything new in a bit, but I have several images that I'm working on. I may finish my "Christmas card" some time before June. :-)

I've also been knitting. It started out as cheap thrills, a couple of bucks for a skein of acrylic yarn that knits up quickly into a hat or a scarf, but then you start finding interesting and challenging patterns (more yarn and unfinished objects (UFO's)) and then find lots of art yarn (expensive wool, silk, mohair, alpaca blends and hand-dyes) and then find other fun things to do with yarn, like felting, spinning, and dyeing. And, people start giving you bales of yarn out of their stashes....

Crikey, I have as much yarn now as I have beads, and it takes up way more space. At least beaders are more possessive of their stashes.

Yes, I've learned bead crochet, but I have to find more techniques using yarn and beads together before I can't get to the apartment door for all the stuff. :-D

9+ months now. What th---?!?!?! You poor thing!

Have fun smothering to death in your yarn stash. (At least beads are swallowable.)

It's funny how a bunch of us have started knitting these days - me too! I taught myself a few basic things during the holidays and now I can't get enough! I'm screwed, because I drool every time I hit the yarn section of the fabric store, and now I have a reason to buy.
