i'm back... in time to leave again on and off topic

Took off at the crack of yawn Friday to head to FL. DH's dad passed away. Waved to Polly and her gators on the way there and back. Came back Monday late late late... but in time for DD1's b-day today. Now it looks like another emergency packing and possible trip cause of Dear Ole Sweet Ole Rita's Wrath... sigh....

good news is FIL is no longer suffering, and his wife is no longer tied to the house taking care of him. (Not that she minded, but it wears ya down being inside 24/7/1095)

and... I finished embroidering DD1's quilt top (cept for one block that hadn't been re-drawn yet but that won't take long - need to change the soccer ball to a volleyball and then it'll be ready for the next step) so now i get to decide how/who to quilt it.

the yellow squares all have embroidery.

now i has ta figure out how much of our "stuff" is really important to haul with ... I'm thinking not as much as i'd like to think. Gonna take lots o pics and burn lots o discs tomorrow. And pray that she turns toward a very unpopulated area and/or dies down some. And try to find my detective friend in Austin to see if her Hurricane Hostel is open for a frazzled mom, 3 kids and 2 large dogs... (DH gets to stay and play in the rain at work- something about holding down the plastic sheets over all the computers :~) )

so when am i supposed to go get the xray and bone density scan that i cancelled on Friday??? ... hmmmmm

Did you happen to hear anything about Anderson Medical Center? Cousin is staying at their Rotary House. I wondered if they were evacuated. Listen to Polly. Take some of the irreplaceable stuff, don't worry about the socks. Be sure to have a good supply of CASH, in case ATM are down. Hugs to you and those lovely children of yours. PAT

got most important papers and pics gathered. DH has to stay here with his new job grrrrrrrrr BTDT with hurricanes b4 (Hugo, and many others) so am fairly well prepared. don't have enough plywood for the windows though. :( will work on that for the next go round.

Best of luck, Kellie. I still have my fingers and toes crossed that Rita will change her mind about hitting land -- though I suspect I'm overly optimistic at this point. Grab those irreplaceables (kids, photos -- that sort of thing) and stay safe! We'll be waiting to hear from you and from Tina!
