I'm here! (OT and Long)

I have missed you guys so much that I am having RCS withdrawal! I am posting with google because my server can't seem to get their act together on getting the newsgroups working. Hopefully this week it will happen. I have been on the phone with tech support twice, maybe the third time is a charm?? After taking the boys for a trip through Washington DC, which I had to do before we left Jersey; we got packed up. Then I was off to San Antonio to see the sights. I just love it there and I had a blast in Scrapbook Heaven. I got to do some scrap-related shopping and then some home-related shopping in Mexico. All in all it was an awesome summer! I am glad I had such a great time because I would have felt even worse than I did when I took a first look at our old house here in Georgia. We bought this house 8 1/2 years ago. We lived in it for 18 months and DH was sent off to Korea for a year and we were coming to our families upon return. So we rented the house out for the past 6 years hoping the rental company would be looking out for our interests. I expected 6 years of wear and tear. That didn't bother me. What bothered me is the tenant didn't pay rent for August and the rental company assumed she was going to pay it from her security deposit. The tenant didn't show up for the out inspection, the lawn was overgrown, she left a ton of trash and junky furniture behind, painted over the wallpaper in my bathroom, used nailholes in the wall to burn inscense, and the house was so dirty. I had to throw away the oven it was coated with so much grease, the dishwasher doesn't work, the refrigerator was broke, there was grime on all the walls and doors, the smell in the house was horrendous (it wasn't even an animal smell), there were maggots crawling around on the carpet, and to top it all off, I have (had) an infestation of roaches. I had the carpet cleaned twice, the exterminator was here twice already, and I have been cleaning like a madwoman while unpacking. I hope to be able to take a scrapping break sometime in the next week or so. Painting is next on my agenda. DH will be here for a couple months after next week and then he is off to the desert for about a year. Needless to say--I am glad we had a nice summer! I am hoping this server will get their act together so I can access newsgroups. I am happy to hear some of you are thinking of me and if google is how I can access for a while--so be it. Glad to be here again! Jacqui

Oh Jacqui! How terrible that you have to come home to that kind of mess!!!! I'm a renter and I can tell you that not all of us renters are like that tenant. :-) How dare she trash your house like that! Glad to hear you had a great summer though. Sounds like you needed it!

How terrible to find your house in such a mess. I hope you got their security deposit thow it won't begin to pay for the last month's rent and the damage! Hope all the cleaning and fixing up are mixed in with some down time and relaxation. Take care of yourself and don't overdo!

HI Jacqui!!!

So glad to see you back in the group. Been meaning to drop ya a line but been kinda busy myself - Thank God!! Good to hear about how hubby did i school, but pary you and HE will be ok with a stit in the desert. From ALL that I have been reading in miliary newspapers and online, there is going to be NO ONE get out of going over there. I am so sorry for all those who have to go and get injured, have to come home and fight again for benefits.

Anyhow I know just what you are going thru with the house. When sis got back here first of April hers was absolutely indescrible. She took him to small claims court after finding ou she could go for more than 500. It did not turn out so great as she rep'ed herself and the a--- had a lawyer, but it made us feel good that HE had to spend soe serious money.

Anyhow WELCOME BACK nad hope that you can plan some "releif" time to unwind now and then. YOU need it girl!!

HUGS and God Bless to you and yours

I am just 45 minutes west of Savannah in Hinesville. Maybe we can get together sometime as I used to go to Savannah all the time when we lived here last. I haven't made it there yet...maybe this weekend... Jacqui

Thanks for the warm wishes. I just got the living room painted and a new dishwasher today. I am beginning to like it here. The house just enables another interest of mine--home improvement and decorating. Jacqui

Sorry to hear the renter's were so inconsiderate with your property. I hope things are getting better for you and the house is quickly recovering. I know you are looking forward to spending time with your DH.
