OT: Sad Cat Baby News

Reno (Black Cat) had to go to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. She had quit eating and drinking -- for at least 2 days -- and had lost a total of 3# in the last 4 1/2 months (9# to 8# the first three 1/2 months and then 2# in just the last month). Her blood work (done a month ago) showed no problems so the Baby Dr. thinks she might have had a non-tumor type of cancer. Regardless, she's gone and DH and I are unbearably upset -- except we know that we can and will bear this. I just don't like having to do something like this just before Christmas. The holiday being so close the the main reason we chose to send Reno on her last trip before we leave for Lizard Land tomorrow. Poor Reno would almost starve when we were gone and that wasn't a problem when she was 9+# and healthy. She was just too weak to make it through a week of having Mom & Dad gone and I couldn't bear the very selfish idea of putting Reno through all of that just so we wouldn't have to do this before Christmas. All in all, this has been a fairly nasty year and I will be happy to see the back side of it. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

It is incredibly sad to have a furbaby put to sleep.....and it is so hard. However, think how much more fortunate they are than their human families, who have to suffer to the end.

Oh, Mary, how heart-breaking, but I am sure you knew it was time (we do know with those furbits we love so much), and you did the kind thing. A big hug from me, and a prayer for all the blessings your warm and generous heart can hold in the new year.
