OT snowing again....

This morning we had snow and 70 km/hr winds, which drove the snow horizontally. One of our company's regional managers started to drive west, and had to turn back--it was an actual blizzard. And how was your summer????

We had almost 90f today, extremely hot and humid. We're in the middle of a serious drought so if you aren't too busy, I would love to have a couple of cold, wet snow balls. The trees and plants are going wild with the sudden heat wave, but please keep your wind so we don't have to deal with all the pollen. I guess I should add that there were heavy storms all around us, complete with loud thunder that was close enough to make Puff crazy, but not a drop where I live.

I always think I miss winter and snow, but when I hear about blizzards in the middle of May, I think I really must change my thinking.

Stay dry and warm and think summer.

The snow is already headed East, but I think it will fall on Fred instead of you. If you sent some sand, the wind would whooosh it away.

A few hours ago there was freezing rain and now it has turned into ice pellets - nasty little devils that sting when they hit. I guess it is my reward for putting away the snow blower and getting the grass mower ready for summer.

With all the stores pulling pesticides from their shelves how are you people out west going to cope with ice worms????

We can't complain at the moment but I saw your storm on the forecast and sent hugs to you.

10C here this morning with heavy, heavy rain. At least I won't have to water the new trees and shrubs.

Lilacs are just about the blossom, and my apple tree is in bud.

Don't you just love this country! :0

Sorry, Fred, I cannot resist. Let us all sing in chorus

In the land of ice and snow, Where it's 99 below, And the polar bears come wandering o'er the plain, In the shadow of the pole, I will clasp her to my soul, We'll be happy when the ice worms nest again. Jim.

Spew warning, Dawne! Spew warning!!!!

It was plenty cool here this morning...still only 34 at 9:30am...but at least the rain is holding off for now. Our road is horrible! The frost heaves had just pushed up the gravel on our road when it started raining last week. What a schloppy mess! I think we're supposed to have drier days for the next few. The fields are so saturated that it will be a miracle if the farmers get their fields planted at all this spring. They're usually pretty much done by this time.

Thinking warm thoughts for all of you above the 49th parallel....

Of course, we always like to send you little gifts! :)

Our long weekend is supposed to be quite nice, and I really, really hope so since we are having friends here to celebrate our anniversaries (our

38th, and their 30th).

Oh, Dawne, I'm sorry - you must really be sick of it. OTOH, at least it's still hockey weather. Something about going to these playoff games in the heat bugs me.

My first year in Pittsburgh, after coming from Miami, I remember plowing thru hip deep in the end of October thinking I was crazy. I got snow tires for my car. Finally, in mid-April I took the snow tires off (bad on the cobbled streets where I lived). 2 days later - blizzard. April 17. Not so bad as May, but....

Weather is crazy here in DC area - very breezy - first coolish - 50s then

70s to low 80s then back to 40. We've cycled from heat to AC with no just "windows" time in between. Of course, I could probably do windows today - just got home from work - if I understaood how to bypass them with our alarm system when not home and the alarm is set. Yes, dears, we do have an alarm on the house - not being pretentious - it was done when built.

True. When things like this happen it reminds me of living in ABQ - we were up at the mountains, and frequently it would snow in the morning, and be

Thanks, Jim--this is exactly what popped into my head when I read Fred's question. Dawne

OK well then, maybe I'll try not to think 'those damn people to the west sending this to us' - have fun.

Yup! I'm thankful that ours *haven't* bloomed, yet! They're about

*that* close to popping out. Maybe we'll get plums this year. Last year the wind blew all the blossoms off the tree, depriving our dog, Jasmine, of her "passion fruit"! Must find the video I took of her jumping up to pick them off the tree and download it into webshots.

Bad form, I know, but for anyone who's interested, I found the videos and uploaded them to my webshots pets album (member name: ndjoan). I also posted a pic of my weekend project: taming the perle cottons. That one's in my stitchery album.
