Ot unconventional xst cleaning

i had this old xst on canvas , it was on the front of a cushion , and probably rarely cleaned, The colours looked sad ,,,,, i took it off the background and first soaked it in luke warm water ,,,,, the water was Black, changed this water 3 times . the colors came out nicer but dirt still was seen ,,,, Now i made a luke warm bath of [ my favorite] Hair Shampoo, and soaked the canvas into it and let stand till the water cooled ,,,,, Wow , as i took it out again , the colors shined, i washed out the shampoo,,, and than just with my hand stuck it onto the tiled wall of the shower. 2 days later i took it off the wall ,, i have a beautiful clean and shiny xst canvas, i won`t put it on a cushion again. mirjam

I have often used shampoo on xstitch - or just washing up liquid! (Shampoo`s the same as washing up liquid, but has a few fancy smells added! LOL!)

I wouldn`t recommend sticking it on a tile though (that`s what you do to test spaghetti`s cooked!!!) but roll it in a nice thick towel, then iron it (on the back) while still damp.
