OT: Who has started Christmas Decorating

And it's oh so interesting to hear it from the other side, too. Amazing how there's always two sides to any story.

I've always heard there are three sides. His, hers and the truth. Just put in whatever words you like.

Back in the day. Overseas Internet friends? So this happened over 20 years ago and it's still brought up? As a law lover, have you seen Michael Clayton yet? In it there is a line George Clooney says to his son about his (Clooney's character) brother; "...you will never be like that, blaming everyone for shit falling out of the sky on you..." So my sincere question to you is, if this happened back in the day, why are you still festering in it?

Help? Maybe that is not a good reason to have a roommate. I had roommates often in my 20s during hard times and not one of them ever did anything remotely like you said your roomies did. On the other hand, I wasn't "helping" the poor things. If this happened long ago, why is it still the go to story every time?

That's easy, the landlord gets the check because he/she is paying the premium. Renters have renters insurance. If they rent, they buy it. I had it when I rented. It's cheap and it was mandatory in a few places I rented particularly managed apartment complexes.

I am not trying to be mean here, but I simply do not believe this story of the fancy bell and whistle truck welfare "them." I do not believe it to be true and think it is an exaggeration.

I refuse to get anything out and up til Dec 10th or maybe even later. I can't stand the big rush. I'd love to see Xmas get back to just a religious holiday - have some carols, a dinner and maybe a gift and let it go at that. My decorations take about one hour to get up and ten minutes to get down. Enough for me. Shopping takes me ten minutes with gift cards, catalogs, checks, a few greeting cards and some addressing. KISS.

I have vowed to turn off my radio too til the week before - maybe. They're already playing the Xmas standards every third number on one station. How much Jingle Bell Rock can ya stand?

That's another thing; why do

Reminds me of a friend, Jewish, who married a Christian guy. Every year, they have this little dialogue:

He: "So, do you want a tree this year?"

She: "Joe: I'm Jewish - what do you think!!?"

and so it goes. If they didn't go thru this little spiel, I guess they'd think the marriage was in trouble. : ))

They have been married over 30 years and still very much in love..

Do you have a recent example; because you always use this example so I was curious.

Maybe she's a bimbo who pushed her husband to the brink and read nothing but the tabloids and gossipped about hair and makeup and fashion and he had enough.

I have a very strong belief system as well where compassion is the central figure and I would never take anyone in off the street. Each of us has our own destiny and I'm pretty much having a time dealing with mine. That's not cold and horrible, it's smart. I do hand out blankets and give money to the beggars at the corners downtown. Sometimes I've handed out a five to have a person fall crying with thanks. Big deal. That doesn't make me a savior in the eyes of my religion. It means I just did something nice because I could. I didn't drive away thinking, oh they better not spend that money on drugs. I don't care what they spend it on. That's called giving freely without being fleeced.

So maybe advocacy should have been a better career for you.

I do not believe these were handouts. When people for insurance they are entitled to the claim. So, was the renter suing the landlord? I'm just confused about this story.

What branch of government gives money to people to raise their foundation? This has me intrigued now.

Legal documents are part of the public domain. I don't require you to do that, but I've not seen any of these cases you speak of, nor have I found any branch of government who pays out for foundation raising over and over as you claim. I just find this interesting because it's a different world than I am accustomed to. My mother lives on Long Island and the water comes to within 30 feet of her house, which is on stilts, pier and beam structure. Her flood insurance is 100 dollars a month on her home which is worth twenty thousand times that amount AND if it washes away into the ocean she does not have to rebuild. She can take her claim and go elsewhere. So I'm just intrigued. Victoria

Of course. Mark is a veteran of 12 years in Catholic school. If he sees a tree he does that skit, "...slowly I turn, step by step..."

I married someone who I have a lot in common with. We also have a lot not in common, so it's pretty fun.

He roots for the Pack. I root for the NY Brett's.

Fun for everyone and good fightin' words too :) Victoria
