Very Nice Amber , reminds me of the tile my late mother had over her toilet. It was in Delft Blue and had beside the picture of the toilet a suitable poem.

I will probably regret asking this, but, hey, it is a full moon, so what is a "suitable poem" to accompany a picture of a toilet???? Dawne

Most of us find that it's funny Whene'er we're ensconced on the dunny To linger for longer To think and to ponder On how to amass some more money!

Ode to the Toilet

O throne of power, throne of mine How chill thy seat at morn When I my quiv'ring bottom set Upon thee and adorn Thy porcelain perfection; Thy plastic roundel rest; Thy cistern of sweet water To flush at my behest.

O Loo! O Bog! O Thunderbox! How shall I write thy name? O John! O Dunny! O S-House! For me 'tis all the same. Thy welcoming enclosure; Thy warm and fruity scent; Thy redolence at dawn and dusk: For comfort thou wert meant!

O powder room, O dunny, O little water closet Where else in heav'n or earth Might we dally and deposit Our every care, our every woe Our sighs and fond endeavour? To thee we raise our voices high And praise thy reign forever!

I did not say I already regretted asking---see above. I suggested I might regret it, since I did not know which way the thread would run. I do not regret it at all, since it lured Trish out of her thinking room to post those amazing Australian odes. But, just my personal taste, I have seen rather coy cutesy poems beside toilets and usually do not care for them. Dawne

Did you notice the alliteration in the first stanza? I was very proud of that! ;->

I was not wearing my literary critic's hat when I read it, but now that you mention it, well done! Dawne

You mean the little sign the crinolined lady is holding that says, oh so sweetly:

"If you sprinkle, while you tinkle, Please be sweet and wipe the seat."
