SAL Choice of Chart

Mar 15, 2009 36 Replies

I've been trying to keep track of who wants what chart and that's almost as difficult as reading this sentence.

I think I've got it straight, but I would greatly appreciate if everyone would actually choose the one they like the best.

So far, if I'm even remotely correct:

First Choice, with 4 votes is --Winter Wind

Second with 2 votes is -- Summer Flower Boxes

Third with 1 is Summer Breeze

The votes I counted were for Me, Gillian, Ellice, Donna, Jinx, Linda & Polly

Please let me know your preference so we can get this show on the road.

Lucille

Congratulations, my dear

Since you have been smart enough to keep track of names and wishes I nominate you for "SAL Coordinator". Do I hear a second?

Of course we rely on Ellice and Donna for technical input. Jim and I will be around Florida until the end of June (maybe) and after that we will not always be near internet.

I am so looking forward to learning a new craft....and the subject is not that critical.

Gill

Seconded :o)

Me too........ it'll give me a break from The Mighty Samurai.

NO-Not me. I will help where and however I can, but not as coordinator. I much prefer to be a Private to someone else's General.

I don't think that will be a problem and I'm quite sure others will feel the same. I know I certainly would be willing to wait for you to catch up.

Ellice is a very thorough and efficient teacher and there are several others who know enough to keep you ahead of the game. I think you'll like it once you get the rhythm.

Nope--I repeat what I said to Gillian. Not me as coordinator.

I think I'd like to join in, and any of those charts is fine with me!

Summer Flower Boxes is still #1 for me. It just looks "springy". Winter Winds looks like it might be too snow-flaky, even with a color change. That's my only hang-up with it. But, I'll do any of them! I've done plenty of specialty stitches, but I've never done canvas other than needlepoint so I'm looking forward to trying out something new.

Jinx

I would have no problem being the record keeper, and even having a small Yahoo group, where we could post info..

The big *BUT* is that we will be gone for part of the summer...not as early as before, but still from June/July until early October. Our Internet access relies strictly upon campground WiFi availability, or the backdoor Verizon, which will probably be slammed shut by then.

If no one copmes forward I will do my best. I am not a computer nerd like many of you, but I can keep records straight.

I would far rather have someone else do this, but if all else fails...count me in.

Gillian

I still think Lucille would be perfect, because his Lordship keeps her close to home.

G

So just would be required of this "coordinator"?? Just curious....

Jinx

I don't know BUT I volunteered.

I suspect keep a list of stitchers, what they need etc. Also make a place somewhere on the idiot computer to keep technical advice from Ellice, Donna et al.

I thought a Yahoo group would work just fine.

Not like the one DH has with over 3000 people ; says she, fainting!

\Gill

Well, if you change your mind....now is as good of a time as any for me to "volunteer". Other than the bambina, I have plenty of time on my hands at the moment.

Jinx

And I would be glad to help where and when I can.

I don't think we should make any final decisions until we hear from Cheryl. After all, the idea of an SAL was her very good idea to begin with.

Just a brief chime in. If everyone picks a chart, then I'll send out a note about potential colors, I bet that I can have a colorway sorted by the weekend. Depending on who needs kits sent to them, and materials, should be there within a couple of weeks, if not sooner. Also, with many of these charts, it may be wise to stitch them on colored canvas, which will show optimially with whatever color choice.

Finally, I don't think these should take more than a month - for real. Shorter for some. They're not really large, and most of these stitches will go quickly. Just not using really large lengths of thread...unless called for. So, I don't think Gillian's going away in summer should be a problem.

LOL. Once this is all picked, & I play with it/review the chart, I'll follow up with a little sort of instruction guide with hints, etc - similar to what I do for my classes. It will give everyone some guidance to go.

What fun.

Ellice

Honestly, I think it's more coordinating, getting everyone's contact info all in one place. You really just want a discussion list. With a group this small, I'd just send a Document with instructions to everyone via e-mail, and any additional stitch illustrations if needed. I think the thing you want is a list for people to be able to post & discuss any questions, progress, etc.

True. Could do one that would be RCTN SALs....maybe we'll set a little trend.

Or you could just use majordomo as a list server.

Certainly not!

Ellice

Absolutely - and she may want to be the coordinator - who knows.

Ellice

Seconded

Relax dear - I'll co-ordinate details. I do need you to help count votes. Hopefully we get a few more people on this train.

C

Cheryl, I know a ready source of every color of #5 Perle DMC. BobbieV

Actually I do!

I'm hoping to have to real time mid week to help sort out all the details once everyone who wants "in" chooses their favorite chart.

Hopefully I can use stash for my fibers. I have a collection of Watercolors to work from

Cheryl

I've looked at the possibilities which don't look very complicated in terms of counting and think I'd like in on this project. My vote can be bought
