To those who so kindly offered me advice, I have to report as follows;
- I traced a pattern onto tissue paper, basted round the edges and beaded the design. When I took out the basting stitches, and then took the tissue paper off, the beads did not pop off everywhere and the entire exercise was most successful.
- However, I think my next project will employ a stitch-thru method, that is to say, I will tack on the tissue design and then stitch through the pattern in the same colour as the fabric, and then work the beads etc. after that.
- My local library had The Beading Book by Julia Jones, and I have found this book most useful and educational. I would recommend this book to any beginning beader, though I have to say I am an experienced embroiderer, if this makes a difference.
