Some one here will have a thought

On how to re-purpose old sleeping bags...holes worn in the flannel inside and the outer fabric. If I was still camping, I'd mend them. But I'm not. And they're taking up room in my basement that I could really use.

I've emailed the local animal shelters, but no response.

How about donating them to the scouts, to a homeless shelter, to the Salvation Army or GoodWill, or a church sale?

There used to be some kind of project that collected these things to make blankets for the homeless that wouldn't come in - they were pieced together from this that and the other. I wonder if it still exists?

I think don't know "who takes what" anymore. Sanitary laws vary by state, used to be you could donate used bedlinens and blankets in NH to charity, but now only the local thrift stores take them, maybe...

I know with our animal shelter if you bring them to their thrift store, which is attached to their adoption center, they take them happily but they don't have anyone to pick them up. We were told to just leave the stuff at the door if they were closed and every raggedy towel or blanket would be made use of.

I told all the shelters I contacted I would drop off.

Have to go the sporting goods store tomorrow, will stop at the pet store next door as they are associated with "Kitty Angels"

I remember the project you are talking about, and like yourself I also am not in the know if it still exists.
