# threads on 40ct. silk gauze

I just finished stitching a face on silk gauze using 1 thread and the continental stitch. I want to stitch the hair etc. the same way over two threads. Should I use two strands of floss? Has anyone tried this before and if so how did you handle it?

As you know Mavia, I am a scientist. The coverage of one over one is

*identical* to that of two over two. This is why doing one part of a piece one over one, and another two over two, looks right. The amount of thread at the front of the work is the same for both. HTH.

That was my first thought too, Jim and I think it would true if you were doing a cross stitch. I'd like to do it with a half cross or continental stitch (I think that's the right term) and it doesn't cover properly. You can see the space between the stitches. I'm not that familiar working on gauze and was hoping someone else might be. I may have to do a complete cross stitch to get the proper coverage. Thanks for trying to help.

I liked the way the stitches looked, very uniform. Having the extra thread for burying ends was a bonus too especially when stitching on gauze! Once I got the hang of it I enjoyed this method better than the usual two, English or Danish.
