I used an iron-on transfer pencil years ago and it worked very well. I also remember that some of patterns were from companies that published these patterns specifically for use on denim, so I wonder if they were special in any way?

Does anyone know if they're still available somewhere??

Thanks! I think maybe I'll buy some of each (tulle & dressmaker's carbon) and show the kids both ways. That way, if they decide to keep doing more embroidery later, they will know how to do it themselves. Fortunately, there is a Hancocks right next to the grocery store I use. Walmart & Joanne's are further away and more annoying to have to shop in. :-)

Hmmm. DH just put in Gone With the Wind. I think I'll go sit out on the deck & read until it's over. It's one of my all time least favorite movies. I keep wanting to yell at the screen for some of the characters to just not be so STUPID! ! ! On the other hand, our hike this morning was at a lower elevation than usual, so I better go shower off any ticks and/or poisen oak before I get too comfortable. Liz from Humbug

Than goodness! Someone else who doesn`t like GWTW!!! I never could see why so many people were hooked on it. That last (I think) favourite line of Clark Gable`s just about sums it up. ;-)

Using white transfer paper helps too.

I did a denim shirt one time and I transferred the pattern to tissue paper. First I used 505 spray to stick it to the fabric and then I basted around the design. You have to be careful when you're pulling off the tissue paper when you're done, but it worked fine for me.
