I lost the beginning of the thread, but it hit me after reading the code
- when you go to a baseball game, most people don't salute. They just stand -- and hopefully most refrain from talking! Maybe a few salute, but not by any means the majority. And that's one of the few places you hear the national anthem outside of politics/parades and can observe the reactions of large numbers of people.
(do they play the national anthem at pro football games, or is that strictly a baseball thing? I guess you can tell which way we lean, sports-fan-wise!)
