TW hiatus/quitting!!

For those that are not aware, Teresa Wentzler posted in her BB earlier this morning that she is taking a designing hiatus (possibly extending to no longer publishing XS at all). She has cited personal reasons due to both the recent death of her father and that she wants to "stretch her wings" in other artistic ventures. A lot of us have already wished her well on her BB, but it still comes as a little bit of a shock. One has to admit that the signs of her changing priorities have been slowly coming. I would just like to acknowledge the impact that TW has had in my life. Even though I have not had the chance to meet her personally, she has definitely meant a lot. As I had learned XS initially in the mid 80's as a child, I never really persued it. The subject matter available then did not suit me. Then in 1994, I happened to see an ad in the back of a CS&CC issue for "Castle Sampler". That pattern changed the scope of XS was capable of. I HAD to have it!!! Being ignorant of TW was at the time, I ordered the pattern, commenced to stitch it, and hence fell into the hardcore XS abyss. I have not looked back. TW is to thank and I want everyone to know it... Thanks for the soapbox time, ~Connie~

Connie, While I'm not a TW fanatic (only own one - a tea pot), would you please wish her luck for me. Her work never fails to make me gasp in awe at the level of detail and I'll interested to see where she goes next. Cheryl

I hope that taking some time for herself, to pursue her painting and not be under the constant pressure to produce new designs, will make her happy. I also hope that after she's had some time to destress that she'll return to Xst design again.

Her designs have always been original and full of detail. It's a lot of work, and I'm sure given all the other things in her life she's feeling really burnt out!

And I, and I think most of her fans, would rather she take this time for herself than resort (as other designers have) to merely recreating the same designs over and over!

The Castle Sampler (still a WIP after 15 years) was my fisrt big XS project too - I have stitched many others and a few TWs (small ones). I guess Teresa was a guiding influence for me too!

A really great lady as well :)

Perhaps this hiatus (??) will give the fans time to catch up :)
