Estate Sale find for 5 bucks! Curse or blessing?????
Find was a carton with three boxes inside. Box 1 was ornate clear plastic (yellowed) with 81 DMC skeins. Appear to be newer and OK. Box 2 was vinyl plastic (gray) with 65 Anchor skeins. Also appear to be newer and OK.
But Box 3 (cardboard shoebox) contained a miss mash of skeins of floss I have never heard of before, with the exception of older style Anchor skeins. These are old, probably dry rotted, and the labels wraps are fairly brittle. Venus Cotton, 47 skeins. Venus Polyester, 11 skeins. Venus Rayon, 2 skeins. Linen Thread Co., NY, 9 skeins. Coats Cadena (Anchor logo), 34 skeins. Coats Corrente (Anchor logo), 21 skeins. Coats Clark LDA. (Companhia de Linha Coats Clark LDA, is what came up on a web search), 5 skeins.
The shoebox alone might be worth more than what was inside, it held Red Goose Shoes, hi hi.....
The Anchor and DMC flosses look fairly recent, none had the older style labels. But this 3rd box was really something to see.
