Victoria says "Hi"

Just phoned Victoria who`s just getting over a knee operation - she asked me to send her love to all her friends.

Thanks for posting that Pat! How is Victoria doing? I think of her often as I use one of her laying tool all of the time. Please pass along my wishes for a speedy recovery.

She`s doing very well from the sound of it, and Mark`s looking after her well. She`s had a rough time, but can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and is already talking about getting back to gardening before too long - and you know how she loves that.

She`s sounding very positive, anyway.

Says it`s around 80 there in Austin - I wouldn`t mind a few days at that temperature here!

I`ll certainly pass your message on.

Glad to hear she's doing okay and will soon be back to her beloved garden!

Please pass along my regards, as well!

That's good news Pat. I know when she last posted she had a lot of treatments etc. ahead of her. I hope she continues to improve and drops in here for a visit when she can.

Thank you Mavia, Pat and Susan. This past two years has definitely been hard. A year of Interferon daily injections did not clear my hep c virus and I am in what's known as Child's Stage 4 cirrhosis. Child is the doctor who came up with the measure. My doctor tells me my liver is working and that I'm tough as nails. My viral load is 25,000 copies and there are people functioning at levels in the millions of copes per measure. So I think things are okay with that for a while.

A few years ago I tore my meniscus and have had arthritis in my right knee for about 15 years and finally decided to have full knee replacement. OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH! But, even this is healing up.

I was in the hospital for 4 days after the surgery, then home three, then developed an infection and was put back in last Friday till Wednesday. IV antibiotics almost overnight started working and now I'm home again. I thinik that may have happened after Pat called me. I was flawed she called me from the U.K. and it gave me a smile, so thank you dearly, Pat.

I can walk easily with a walker, cane, or even with no support. It's not the knee which hurts, it's the muscles, tendons and ligaments they pulled all around in there. So, lots of rest and I may finish the MLI Winter Sampler I started three years ago for my MIL.

The split second I'm told I can garden, I will be out there. It's become such a tangle I will not know where to start and I will have to hire some people to come in and do the hard stuff, weed, rake, etc. We have two ponds which Mark cares for and it's sort of his little hobby.

So, I am still at my email address should anyone want to be in touch. Thanks to you who've kept in touch over these years. I mostly only post to one group now and its rec.gardens. I see Cheryl there all the time.

Gotta run.

regards, Victoria

Hey Girl,

I was thinking of you the other day and started a note but wasn't sure how soon you'd see it.

Glad all is going uphill instead of down.

Hi Victoria

Glad to hear that you are doing OK even though the hep C isn't cleared up completely. Hopefully it will be kept under control.

Give that knee some time to heal and do the required exercises and you should be in the garden this spring.

all the best, Mavia
