You done good Tia Mary

Do you remember my Cheeto story from when I was stitching EarthDancer? I had finished for the day and was treating myself to my favourite snack of Cheetos & Diet Pepsi. I had put ED (mounted in a scroll frame attached to my Sit on It lap frame) on the other side of the family room with the design facing away from me. I went and got a brand new bag of Cheetos, my glass of soda and sat myself down in my recliner. The bag would open easily so I gave a nice FIRM tug. The sides parted, the top tore and a huge, fat very yellow cheeto went flying across the room and landed smack dab in the middle of the light beige stitched area of the almost finished ED! Talk about panic! For those who haven't done EarthDancer, there are a number of specialty fibers that are hand dyed and it is not recommended that they be washed so I hadn't planned on washing the piece. Of course, I had to go to Plan B after the flying Cheeto incident -- LOLOL! I currently have a nice yellow Cheeto fingerprint on the outer edge of the little piece I am doing for the SMDGD's tree skirt. This can be washed so it's no big deal :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I think Stevia is not related to splenda at all. I've had stevia in the house - very sweet stuff and it made awesome lemonade. But won't be buying more.. I'm trying to limit the sweet and Stevia still has calories.

Living in Pittsburgh, Heinz is the ONLY ketchup. Story is told when John Heinz was running for Senate, he went into a diner in Eastern PA where the owner knowing Heinz was coming hadn't a clue that he should have hidden his bottles of Hunts. When I was living SoCal Hunt-Wesson had a plant not far from where I lived. Needless to say, Heinz didn't dominate the shelves in the grocery stores.

I probably would have had it sent to me.

LOL - just a little scary. Could be much worse like lots of severe disagreement ;^) I tried using Dukes when I lived in NC, and like it. Last year our local Harris-Teeter brought it in, and when they came out with the light type I bought it. DH did the taste test with Hellmans, and agreed that despite life-long loyalty to Hellman's, the Duke's Light was better. FWIW. Ah, you'll appreciate this - last night - I actually made Kasha for dinner - with mushrooms and onions - but no varnishkas. Always makes me think of my grandmother (not that I'm equating you there, but that NY background, etc). Puckster liked it, too (without onions for him)!

I just got back from carpooling DH to work (yeah, HOV) as we're going to the CAPS game tonight, and it just is easier than dealing with 2 cars later. DH gets to participate in some on-ice ceremony pre-game for Hockey Fights Cancer - I think they selected about a dozen folks for various reasons having to do with how they've been affected, all supposedly (I think) survivors, and charity work. So, now I'm doing laundry and checking mail. And about to go alter a pair of slacks (hah - that should be interesting - I hate doing pinning/fitting on self with already made clothes), and then stitch. It's a theory.

Go have some good deli - I know you have some possibilities - it's dreary and rainy here.

I don't like kasha. As a matter of fact, I don't particularly like anything that's really healthy, even though our grandmother's recipe wasn't prepared in a healthy way.

I always preferred making from scratch to altering. Altering was in my estimation a much more difficult challenge.>

Still too hot here and deli is out for now. I'm limited to a very low salt diet for the time being. boo hoo!!!!

Isn't Splenda just another derivative of aspartame though ??

I don't think so. The ads say it is made from regular sugar -- just about as sweet but lots less calories. I have a bunch in the kitchen (DH is diabetic) and I'll look at the ingredients -- IF I can remember

I deny all blame. It was easier to not try to explain to that particular waiter what you wanted instead of fries...

I had a stitch free day yesterday. But I did study Melinda Cross' "Reader's Digest Book of Embroidery."

That's funny. I find it kind of nutty and comforting. But, generally prefer it with lots of fat & the farfalle added. Next up, I'm making chopped liver - the farmer we've been getting our chicken from sold me some chicken livers - but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

True. But, I've gone down a couple of sizes, and well, the pants are just not doable as they are. I'm just doing some cotton slacks today. I'm trying to convince DH to help with the pinning on some suit pants - though he suggested I force Donna to do it. These may not be perfect, but will at least look less clownish.

Sorry about that. Well, drink lots of water to try and counter some salt. It's a theory. Around here I've seen some low-salt deli-meat. Well, go have some lovely fresh fruit!

After looking some more, it looks like Equal is the big aspartame based sweetener, Splenda based on sucralose (chemical derivative of sucrose) - both have dextrose and maltodextrin. Truvia is made from a specific part of the stevia plant, as well as some other fruit sugars from pears and other fruits.

This link has some info on sucralose, could be followed to the other ingredients.

have a bunch of info. Personally, I don't use these much at all - and just deal with natural sugars, honey. But, I'm not much of a sweets person anyhow. Can't deal with the aspartame flavored "sugar-free" stuff at work, and also, hence, the rare diet soda.

OK - will accept that, but, hey, I need some excuse.

Good for you. I still haven't stuck needle to fabric, so to speak. But, I did on Sunday play paper-dolls with laying out my "Quaker Challenge" piece. And in a fit of stubborness, and potential stupidity - I'm making this thing fit on a piece of fabric with a small border - theory being I'll be using it as an insert on a soft finish of some sort. Uh huh. Sure. DH said "you could sew some strips on the narrow edge." He has been around way too much of my stitching, and seeing me/Cindy doing framing....
