Anybody know of a way to build one's own pottery wheel, or is it just cheaper to buy one already made? I am just learning to use a wheel, thought it might be nice to own one.

You can build a kickwheel for about $150, or you can buy a ready made kit by a good company like Thomas Stuart for $480. Most clay supply houses like Axner.com and kickwheel.com carry kits. For how to build your own wheel, do a Google search for "build a pottery wheel " and go from there. I know there are at least two or three sets of directions posted on the 'Net.
