Back in early Jan I asked about using some white stoneware listed at >6 when my access will be kilns at >10. One of the replies (Eddie Daughton) suggested using it as slip for decoration. This brings up the question of combining various clay bodies in a single piece--which I would love to do, but ... I haven't run across any information about this in various books -- I might not have reached this section in any of them.

you actually already use blended clay bodies in your current clay. none of the comercial claybodies available are comprised on only one type of clay. the blends are for more plasticity, apearance, maturity, etc.
messing around with your own blends can certainly be done but your own new blend (or "alloy") may melt at a lower or higher temp then you might expect so fire these new gems inside a relaible container in case things happen you didn't expect.
this brings up a comment that we shouldn't be compelled to glaze everything we make - alot of times the basic clay body or multipul clays can be a great finish for our pieces. smooth, rough, contrasting finishes can work nicely with a piece.

It would seem that such a piece would be so brittle as to be useless--except maybe a thick item. I have a tile just made and dried which isn't cracking, but its surface easilly chips/crumbles, etc.
