They only way I found was to eventually get a table where I could lower the machine flush with the table top. And still I get sore if I'm doing hours and hours of quilting.

Something I noticed about the 6600 Leslie is that it is 'fat'. WHen I pulled the Brother out of my sewing cabinet I had to adjust the opening bigger. The Brother had to have a board about 3/8" under it to fit flush with the cabinet. The 6600 has no board and sits above what is flush maybe 1/4". That might be enough that there just isn't the clearance you need just isn't there. Something we need SM designers to think about perhaps? If your shelf itself is a 2X you could save room by maybe using thinner plywood or something else that is stronger but not as thick. Even though 2x isn't
