A QI Early Xmas Present??

Question

All day, the four cats have been at attention in the bathroom - only coming out for food and treats! I was out yesterday for my nephew's birthday party/supper - when I arrived home mid-evening, I noticed that things were changed in the bathroom: there was a 'fort of sorts' built in one corner near the vanity - nothing unusual in that since Sammie likes to build things and hide her toy stash in various places around the apartment. Tonight, I could hear a definite squeaking sound coming from the dining room - Winston & Sammie were quite frantic and the squeaking and the squealing was certainly much louder - lots of scrabbling and talking going on. I spotted their prey: a grey mouse with white patches, sitting on its haunches and yelling its head off!! While searching for something suitable to trap it in - Winston chased it into the utility area - I am hoping that it has followed the path through the floor where the water tank overflow pipe goes. It is much too cold outside to toss it out in the parking lot even if I did manage to catch it live. It is after midnight now and the kitties are busy guarding the door to the utility and trying to figure a way to open the door. I can only figure that in the am, I will have a search and rescue job to do or a recovery and burial. At the moment, I am looking into four cat faces who are wondering why I have closed a door which is usually always open... jennellh

You're a brave girl. I would be in the next State by now shreiking like a banshee all the way. Only good mouse is a dead mouse IMHO. Once made my Not so DH come home from work to rid the ragehood of a mouse. Made my DH strip a holiday unit to the floorboards because I'd seen a mouse cross the floor.

Ummm is Sammie the cat? How did you train him/her to build things and can I borrow him/her to help finish our house?

Sammie (aka Samantha) is a 5month old black fuzzball of a kitten (nowbeginning to show some amazing brown markings) - she has loved tocarry things around ever since she arrived and the bathroom is herfavourite place to build her stash.  She is a toilet paper 'unroller'and eater who makes a 'quilt' using the pile of paper for batting anda towel or other dragged item for the top.  The fort was made up of atrash can (upended), bathroom scale, several plastic grocery bags anda static fuzzy duster - I don't think that this items would hold up inthe finishing of your house?This morning, Winston and Sammie are first in line to flush out themouse - there is lots of scrabbling noise coming from the utilityroom.  Katie (cat) is waiting outside the door hoping to deflect anyrunaway rodent.  Jessie, my oldest cat, is roaming around using a lotand I do mean a lot of swear words about the whole thing.Its going to be an interesting day, one way or another.  jennellhthe four cats have been at...

I don't know yet whether Sammie will be an 'eater' or not - this isher first experience with a live mouse!  She is a kitten who loves tocarry the toy rats and mice around before tossing them to play with -Winston and Katie will not be interested in the mouse if it goes tomouse heaven and will leave it alone - I'm hoping that Sammie willlearn the same lesson from them.  jennellh

My nephew's young son has asked Santa to bring a lizard for Xmas.  At7yro, he has accumulated a gerbil, a toad and a dog.   I think that Ihave made a good choice to make him a 'snake' pillowcase for part ofhis gift.  jennellh

Cats are fun.  Our old Lea was taught at a young age to 'kill the cat'if she saw one in the yard.  Now a mild mannered golden retriever isn't killing anything but she will chase.  In her later years dh really wanted a cat so Lea learned to live with a cat in her house.  She understood outside interloper cats were different than 'her' kitty.I have gone from hating cats to being the 'cat lady'  The dogs here nowknow kitties are the top of the pecking order. At 9.30am, I was 'presented' with a gift laid at my feet.  Sammiethought that she ought to be allowed to keep it as another one of hertossy toys while Winston told her that it was no good anymore 'cos itwas 'broke' ...... Jessie told them that they should have taken bettercare of their new toy and Katie was disgusted with herself for notbeing the one to play with it first..... Life goes on, jennellh
