Do you know about the About Quilting pages? That is a mother lode of patterns and ideas for quilters. The folks at the About center (?) have lots of different interest groups for subscribers. There is also one called About.com which features different topics every day. Today the theme is quilting. Here is a cut and paste.

It's just as useful as knitting (especially in the cold winter months) and I think it would be funny to see people quilting on the bus." The post goes on to give links for beginning quilting lessons and patterns. I must say that quilting is ALREADY HIP and cool, IMO.
