In summer I go bare-foot, in winter I wear socks.

When I sit down to work at a machine I am usually barefoot. However you know how when you are getting ready to go out somebody will suddenly realize that they need something stitched up? Yeah I am usually wearing scary shoes right about then. Fortunately 4 out 5 machines are knee lever. Darn good thing because I hate zippers on my boots (boot zips always die very fast), and I love really high boots.

NightMist usually has a mini sewing kit and a hand interlocker loaded with leather needles in her purse when she goes out. Be prepared for Murphy and buttered toast cats at all times says I.

While I don't wear QUITE such spiky heels, and I usually sew in bare feet, I *do* sew in heels that high if I'm wearing them, especially if I'm out teaching! However, I also tell the kids if they can't get the machine to go slow enough in shoes, slip off a shoe and use just their toes... Works a treat! :)

Pfft. You think that's bad??? When I was about 16 years old (far longer ago than I'd be willin' to admit) I worked at one of those Victoria's Secrets wannabe boutiques at a mall near DC. One night, right before close, a really distinguished, very grandfatherly gent came in asking about corsets - I figured he was shopping for his wife. He picked out a black bustier and g-string number (with a cute little red heart strategically placed over the crotch - I didn't say it was the classiest shop, did I??) and asked about fitting ... well, we always had high school boys come in trying to persuade us on the sales floor to try on items (presumably under the guise of "Well, my girlfriend is j-u-u-u-u-s-t about your size.") and that's what I immediately assumed!

Nope, after a few minutes, he got it across that he wanted to try it on! So he goes into the dressing room and comes out bedecked in that little stripperesque outfit - asking ME if I thought it fit!! Can you imagine? He was a rather large man, and had white chest hair poking out at the cleavage of the bustier! OMG!!

So I couldn't resist and called over the only other girl working with me that night and we both stifled our giggles and told him how sexy and feminine he looked (I believe we used the word "delicious"). He goes to the checkout, pays for his purchase - cash on the barrelhead - and leaves.

So what, right? Well, about two weeks after that happened, there was a special segment on the news about the latest congressional convention (or whatever you call it) - and HE was one of the Senators!!!

And THAT'S why I always talk my daughter out of hanging out at the Mall!! :)

I'll send my neighbor's 6 year old - she's obsessed with HK. But now, that'd be kind of like sending me over to save you from a chocolate avalanche.

I swear, from peeking in that kid's room, the nation of Japan is trying to take us over. Her bedroom is nothing BUT HK. Anything the least bit gender neutral or masculine would curl up and die within 5 seconds of entering the room.

I sew barefoot (or in sockfeet) 9 times out of ten - but if I think I might need to run out for fabric, I'll wear my Vans! :)

Most comfiest shoes I've ever owned. And that's saying A LOT. :)

I just wish he would resign and get it over with. First he 'intends' to, then he isn't. Now, maybe he is. The governor made a list of potential replacements after he met with Sen Craig, so maybe he'll be gone soon!
