Ok, so I got the thing figured out and put together (aside from some pockets that I decided to add yesterday). Here's the picture:

I used 5 1/2" blocks. For the ties I cut strips 1 1/2" wide by the width of the fabric. Cut it in half for the tie at the neck. I have a backing on it so the seams won't show. I used the "inside out" method that I described in the potholder thread. I really recommend putting the ties on *after* sewing the backing on if you use the inside out method.*However*, I also found this pattern on keepsake quilting:

Almost identical but they use bias tape and I either can't or won't do bias tape corners. So, maybe mine isn't vintage but it's cute as heck! I'll try to get a pattern put together on graph paper if anyone wants it.Tamra
