Thanks, Sandy! I love looking at those every year. My favorite so far this year is Cat's Cradle, #32. Some of them aren't up yet, so I will definitely be checking back.

I didn't realize so many new ones had been added. I saw a few of them a couple years ago when I was the support crew for DD and her friend while they rode RAGBRAI.

It's quite an event. I saw the barns when I was lost!

That brings to mind an idea I've played with- quilt blocks for a sampler-style tile back splash on the walls in my kitchen. I also thought about quilt blocks in tile around the fireplace, too- in the space between the metal front and the wood mantle. Has anybody done anything like that?

We have it in our MB shower that is almost finished. the tile has 2 distinct patterns: one is a star pattern and the other looks like an on-point square: ) I'm waiting for it to be finished before I take pix.

My next door neighbor made ceramic quilt block tiles and sprinkled them in her front flower bed, few and far between. They are very delightful discoveries. I would suggest if you do this, that you be very generous in your use of plain tiles in between, or you will overwhelm the eye in those spaces. But I think the idea is a wonderful one.

I've thought about it an awful lot and still do. Our floors need retiling and I'd love to do some sort of pattern, but in very subtle tones, all creams, beiges and tans the darkest. I would probably do one all-over design rather than a sampler for the floor.

I was going to do the front porch at the house in a quilt block pattern, similar to a mariner's compass. D[not-so-dear]H bought the travertine stone in shades of mossy green and browns. The house is a

104 yr old Victorian Colonial, front porch has part rectangle with a "bubble" out on end of the front side - there is a second floor half- circle balcony that is copied on the front porch.

Don't know what will be done now for a design.

But maybe I should start playing with tile pieces and do something in the kitchen here!

At the risk of being self-promoting , I am a potter and I do make tiles. How about if you had handmade tiles painted to look like quilt squares? Also, if you make them yourself or have them made, you can cut the shapes you want and not have to cut ready-made tile.

Heck, why stop with tiles in the garden? I think my next vehicle will get pinstriped with quilt blocks down the side, in a flame pattern ;))

Thanks for sending this site, how cool! I've never seen wooden quilts hanging on barns. Can you tell I haven't traveled much?

I have 2 balconies on the front of my house and one on the front of the garage. My house is a Cape with a full dormer in the front. I think a wooden quilt would look great hanging on the garage balcony. After 9/11, DH painted a flag on an old piece of stockade fence, each picket was a stripe. We made more and sold them at our church fair. I didn't polyurethane the wooden flag, so it faded away to nothing and we removed it from the balcony. I think a colorful quilt pattern that matches my house would be great.

I'm thinking something with Bear Paws. Pine trees and Flying geese. Has anyone here made one of these quilts? I'm thinking, draw the pattern on outdoor plywood, use a router to scribe the wood into "blocks" then paint.

DH really gets into projects like this. Thanks again for the link, this is going to be fun.

Well, I have the Mazda Tribute in Pebble Ash Metallic [kinda camoflage khaki color] My next vehicle will be the burnished copper color if I can get it, and planning fading flames pinstriped in quilt block shapes. I played around with the idea of Celtic knotwork down the side of this one. Purple and orange on camoflage khaki just doesn't look right. Around here that would be a little too much challenge for some kids to not key the car.

What a neat idea, Denise; go for it!

Many of these Barn Quilts are painted on the barn itself. Interesting to see the different displays, great imaginations.
