I knew that, Pat; really I did! I just couldn't resist. And apologies to *her* for changing her gender.
I'm pretty sure I have shared those stories here already, but OK. (G)
You have to understand my DH is a mad scientist. Remember the guy who hacked the college mainframe, blew up a chem lab (OK it was just an exhaust hood), blew a hole in the high school football field, blew up his mothers flower bed, put a gerbil into orbit, darn near electrocuted a sibling with a "guard robot", etc. etc. etc.? Well I married him.
Strawberry poptart fusion was an accidental discovery that led to the destruction of many toasters, and blowing up the micowave. DD1 brought home a box of strawberry poptarts and plunked a couple into the toaster. The toaster had recently taken airs and seemed to feel that ejecting food placed into it was purely optional. It did not eject the poptart, combustion resulted, and when I was drawn into the kitchen by the smell I found flames leaping from the toaster, the cupboards smoldering, and DD standing there bug eyed and gurgleing. I did the mom thing and averted the disaster. DH was enchanted and immediately started researching the phenomena. I told him it was no deep dark secret, the toaster screwed up and burned the poptarts. He on the other hand thought the large amount of flame and heat from the poptarts was unique. Sure enough he found this link:

reading that, he decided to experiment. He bought a bunch ofsecond hand toasters and assorted kinds of poptarts, and I banishedthe lot to the driveway. He ran an extension cord and set aboutburning poptarts. Sure enough, the strawberry ones were the only onesto actually ignite and shoot flame in such a flamboyant manner.Alas! The Strawberry Poptart Blowtorch page also had this link:

resulted in experimentation with grapes. Of course he had toexpand on the given experiment. It seems that when you put more than a few unpeeled grapes into themicrowave and nuke them, at least one of them will explode and wedgeitself into the vents. If you do not know you have grape shrapnelwedged in your vents and continue to nuke grapes, the results arestartling. I think he must have stuck something else in there withthe grapes, or maybe he just didn't tell me everything, but not onlywas the glass table broken and soot smudged, but some of the plasticon the walls was melted looking. So far as saltpeter, in addition to being used to preserve food and wilt willies it is an ingredient in gunpowder and similar stuff. No he didn't blow up the kitchen, at least not quite. He was experimenting with mixtures for flashpots. He loaded a cat food can can with saltpeter, sugar, magnesium fibers and other stuff, a couple of teaspoons total volume. He also used an old style flashbulb to ignite it, not taking the added magnesium fiber into account. It worked alright, it also ruined a perfectly good wooden spoon when I pushed it into the sink (after breaking the electrical connection) to run water around it to drop the temperature. He not only got a much larger than expected pyrotechnic effect, it was a LOT hotter than he anticipated. Fried a couple of ceiling tiles, burned a ring into the the countertop, and scared the cats out of seven lives each.
And that my children is just the tip of the iceberg. If I woke up one morning and found a Frankenstien's monster or a dalek in the front room I would not be shocked.

Well I found this by accident. I have one of the bigger spools of thread and I tried to put it on my sidewinder and it flew off. BOY was my first bobbin a mess. You know when you buy cd's in the case? Well I found that the part that has the plastic thingy sticking up works just great for that size thread. Of course later I discovered the the rod for the thread pulls up so will try it correctly and see if it works.

Oh my.... I have giggled myself silly over this, and spit all over the monitor. If my DH weren't almost annoyingly cautious, he'd be right out there with your DH, finding new ways to blow things up. He takes everything apart, cobbles new things out of old parts, and now has a willing enabler in my dad, who supplied him with things like old lawnmower engines. I try to ignore as much of it as I can.;-)
Check out a string of LED lights - they don't use as much electricity and don't get as hot!
Pat, it occurs to me that you could use either Sculpy clay and bake the clay on, or use friendly plastic and a bit of glue. The friendly plastic would be my choice of the two. Debra in VA See my quilts at

My best wacky quilting gadget is a moustache trimmer. I use it to rip out seams! I can zip through them in no time. I open the seam a few stitches, pull the fabrics apart a little bit, then I work from there with the trimmer. If you keep everything just right, you don't cut the fabric and the seams melt away! :-) It takes a little bit of training, but it's great for fixing paper piecing errors!!!!
m a few stitches,
In front of my computer is a leather chair with to arm rests that go all the way down to the end of the chair, and sometimes, when I'm home alone, and I'm bored, I like to take my big massager out, look up some hot p*rn on the computer, and m*******te with a dildo until my legs as I read this group ..oh god, I love it.
I *knew* it, NightMist! I *knew* those stories were too good to keep to yourself! ROFLOL! I must admit, though, that I'm rather glad to have *read* the stories, rather than
*living* them. ;)Obviously not from me...
I do believe that you will discover that this is the stuff:

Just mold a wad around the tool, hold it comfortably, then set it aside and let it dry. It is a favorite for adapting tools for kids with grip issues because it is cheap, easy, and comes in bright colors if you want them.

NightMist, has he played with Peeps yet?

Oh yeah. I think he found the "dueling peeps" page about 15 seconds after they put it up.
And do you know what almost the first thing he did in the new microwave was? He nuked a twinkie. Just to see if it would really swell up and do any of the things they are rumored to do.
The really sad thing is nobody in the house eats either peeps or twinkies, so he had to buy them special just to make a mess in the microwave.
NightMist does harbor a secret fondness for Hostess cupcakes (of course the chocolate ones!)
TROLL ALERT!!! who's up for pie???
i am assuming that wasnt Julie?

Yeah I have a lot of them too. I probably have close to that many too. After I bought my embroidery machine and went in for my first class, the instructor had that plastic/vinyl stuff wrapped around her bobbins. She told me I could find it where the plastic that goes over windows in the wintertime is kept. I looked at Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart in about 5 different states and couldn't find it. Finally one night DH and I were at Walmart when he had a lightbulb moment and told me about the stuff in the fabric department. It has been a lifesaver for me.

I guess it's one of those YMMV cases. Maybe the humidity or something here causes it to react differently for me than what it does for you. I have the same problem with forgetting where I put the plastic strips too. Being clear the are easy to misplace.
