BoM traumas

I'm part of a BoM club, it meets 2nd Friday of the month, i.e. today. Until this month, I've always completed the block before the Friday, but this month I still had a few seams to sew this morning, should have been about half an hours work. But blow me, I'd gone and trimmed an earlier step to the finished size, not the size plus seam allowances, so I had a centre section larger than the pieced edges.

The obvious solution would have been to dash to the shop and see if I could buy a new kit, or get FQs for the bits I needed to redo. But, it was just a few minutes too late to have time to do that before picking up DS from preschool, so my only chance would have been after the gym.

Well blow me, the nutcases taking care of my DD merrily fed her lunch and a drink then took her out of the room which has a toilet cubicle in it without sitting her on the toilet - she'd had a whole carton of juice, not going was not an option. So unsurprisingly she wet herself whilst playing in the other room and given she's been dry in this setting since September, just last week I stopped taking the spare clothes along, so when I came to pick her up, all she was wearing was her coat and shoes (even her socks had got wet, which is not normal for her, which shows how full her bladder must have been before she eventually couldn't control it), I could hardly take her to the fabric store like that, plus it was absolutely tipping it down with rain, which would have been enough to put me off anyway.

So I figured the best solution was to remake the centre to fit the sides, the whole thing will turn out smaller, but I can wave it tonight and still get next months block and buy another kit for last month whilst I'm at it, though if they don't have a kit, I now need 5 fabrics not 3, so cross your fingers! Additionally since one component of the centre was fussy cut symmetrically the resize has left them unsymmetrical, though at least they are all the same! What's really annoying is that I've actually sewn it really well, it's a complicated block, which I guess is why I mucked up, but all my points and intersections I spot on.

So far I've really liked being in this club, it started in May, so finished next month, I'll have to decide whether to do whatever they offer next year, before today I'd have definitely said yes, but today was too much of a stresser for me, so now I'm unsure!

it's one day.... after 10 months of enjoyment.....

as frustrating as it was.... don't let it overshadow the other 300 days!

And remember... the day you are short on time... is the day everything else will fall apart! You can bank on it!

ouch, what a pita for you and dd. i hope ya told the preschool folks it was their responsibility to take her to the toilet, suggest she go or at the very least make sure she could get there by herself without having to ask or wait for someone to help her. dont they have extra clothes you could borrow and return all washed and ready for the next accident? i hope it hasnt put her progress back to square one.

argh, all that work you did too. i h> I'm part of a BoM club, it meets 2nd Friday of the month,
