bought fabric now what?

I bought this fabric that I thought was gorgeous and when it came in it was even prettier so I went back and bought more of the fabric by the same designer or whatever.

I got it at

and no I can't remember the NA whatever but I'm not. :)

Anyway I have posted what I bought on my website, but I don't think I have the right colors now that I have it and have tried to put it together. I love probably 150-200 miles from the nearest fabric store so on line is my only option and I just do not have any idea how to make this into a lap quilt with these colors. I want to do a lap quilt for our pastor for next Christmas.

Here's a link to what I bought

and if you go to the rainbow url and do a search for Shelly Benton you will find the rest in the group. I can't post a url for it because it comes up as

and it takes you to the main page so the only way is to do the search. I bought 2 yards of the 7 fabrics I have up on my website. Remember I am new to this so it has to be something easy like maybe just blocks or strips.

I am sorry for asking you all to go to this much trouble for me, but I love this fabric, well I don't care for the vine one at all but thought I needed it to off set the others.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

(I am a beginner too, so forgive if the following suggestions are lame, LOL)

I like your fabrics also. Maybe you could get some ideas from the "Just Can't Cut It" line of patterns, are you familiar with them? They are really very easy and the blocks are large so to show off the fabric. The "Turning Twenty" series is a nice easy one also. You could modify them to be lap size. I can't tell for sure how large the crosses and doves are by the pic, but if they are as large as they look, it would be a shame to cut them into strips.

I like the fabric! I think I would just do 4 inch squares and lay them out in an eye-pleasing pattern - maybe trip around the world or diagonals or random. I also like the braid pattern and it would probably work well with these.

Jacqueline, perhaps you have a teal and a blue that don't want to work well together. If you remove the teal fabrics do the others work better together? What if you use the teal fabrics and remove the blue ones? If that is the case you could save either the teals or the blues for the backing and use the others for the top. You could also simply make sure that the teal and blue fabrics don't get sewn side by side, but that they have burgundy or tan between them if you want to use both colors on top.

You are right about the vine, you need it for a light colored fabric. The doves would be your medium. I think the vine works nicely with the others so it was a good choice.

Jacqueline,

How about trying a rail fence or some variation of that? Only rectangles, few intersections to match. Or the "warm wishes" pattern. You can google for the real thing or look at my versions:

Very simple and easy-peasy to put together.

Nice fabs, by the way :-)

Thanks to all that replied and I am so sorry that I posted the wrong link. Thanks Susan for catching it. The name of the website is over the rainbow and I guess I typed it without even looking. Never been to the site that I posted and yes you are right it isn't one that I should have posted, :( My mistake, please forgive me.
