Chag Sameach

Before I get too busy cooking and baking and with all the other wonderful activities that come with the holiday, I would like to wish all those celebrating a very healthy, happy kosher Pesach. Sharon in Montreal

The same to you Sharon. This is the first year in ages that I am not doing the seder. Will be going to Mom's. I am heading over there in a little bit to set the table for her since she has been having a lot of trouble with her legs.

Got a call from DD who is doing Semester at Sea this term. They will be landing in Malaysia tomorrow. Since Malaysia is strictly a Islamic country, there are no synagogues for the kids to go to for a service so they purchased a case of Matzo when when they were in South Africa and will be conducting their own service on board. Should be a lot of fun for them since they are all so far from home and have no biological family to share the week with them.

My best wishes to all those celebrating Pesach also.

In the hope of seeing a little more harmony in this sadly conflicted world I will also take this opportunity to wish well those celebrating Palm Sunday and the coming of the Easter season.

And if anyone out there is celebrating another festival that is important to them, may it bring you peace and joy.

Pig hereby institutes a new holiday celebration, to coincide with the general Pesach/Easter time zone.....

The Official Hatching of the Solstice Peeps.

The original Peeps, of course, are the baby chicks, and we all know that baby chicks come from eggs. Since they're all related, no matter what odd shapes they come in, I think we can assume that as unlikely as it may appear, *all* Peeps come from eggs.

So given that eggs, baby chicks and many other less-than-religiously-obvious "Easter symbols" have their roots in pagan antiquity.......

Pig hereby pronounces that All Peeps are Laid on Solstices and Equinoxes (depending, of course, on their holiday associations).

And that this week is the Week of the Hatching of the (spring) Peeps.

Obviously, this is a religious celebration designed for RCTQ, easily. :)

They made green Peeps this year. I saw them on their website, but I never saw any in the store.

As for Peeps in my pantry -- most of them make it to the front seat of the car whereas the other groceries are in the trunk. A few less Peeps make it into the house and onto the kitchen counter. After that, if you are a Peep, you are taking your chances!
