John- i have one of Judy Matheison's book's too. Really good instructions. its the "Mariner's Compass Quilts-New Directions" Ed: 1995 i think it's the best one out there. i've made 2 so far. amy in CNY

A big advantage of this method is the ability to press seams either way. This is particularly good for mariners compasses, where having both seams pressed away from a point is favourable. I own her newest book and I think it's the first she introduced this method, I borrowed one of the older ones and I don't think she mentioned it.

Might not be the same for all of them, but intending to find where the settings are to assist you, I clicked the first one, looks like you can choose the colour in makes the lines at that point. The first window that you bring up to print should have the type of printer you are using at the top left, next to that is a button "Properties", at that point what shows is printer related, rather than the same for everyone, so at that point you'll need to dig around. The blue I generated didn't look particularly pale, so I wonder if it might be your colour ink cartridge is low or not flowing smoothly, to determine if that's the issue, try printer a test page.
